The food is the best around, other hungry horses should be held to this standard, can't comment on the rooms never stayed in one.

Booked and pre ordered for a Christmas meal but they did not get all the meals out at once. Although once the mix up was sorted it was a very nice mealFood & drinks: Nice food, reasonable prices

Went here for a meal. It was ok, nothing special. Served a bit slap dash. Service wasn't too good, it seemed staff were inconvenienced by customers. I wouldn't go again.

PUB: Food was lovely, staff were friendly and welcoming, we couldn’t fault it, especially for the price we paid it isn’t expensive. Good portion sizes too.Food & drinks: Amazing

Stayed for work, so location was spot on. Really friendly staff who were really helpful. And when they take the time to put up a sign like this, they mean it: I'll be back just for the shower!

My wife and I stayed one night in this old, tired, smelly and noisy motel as part of a Virgin Experience package. We wish we had driven the five hours to get home instead. Not only is it in dire need of refurbishment, there is a very unpleasant odour in the corridors. Worse still, we barely slept due to the constant sound of what sounded like a water pump kicking in and out all night. I called reception to complain about the noise (as instructed on a card by the room phone) and received no answer after 15 minutes of waiting. Next morning, the hotel manager was pleasant enough but said she was unable to help. To be honest we were just glad to be leaving. I hope decision makers at Greene King Inns take note and that Virgin drop this hotel. Virgin were at least responsive in offering a credit for this portion of our ‘experience’.Rooms: Tired and in need of upgrading throughout Noisy at night with sound of water pumps kicking in and out constantly.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Room is basic with good shower. I love their breakfast which you can order full English breakfast or continental. Better book the room with breakfast included.
Popped in for dinner after a day at Alton Towers.Staff were really friendly and helpful. Girls on the bar were hilarious and service was excellent. We ate our weight in starters and enjoyed a few cocktails.

Stayed at the hotel and used the restaurant. The restaurant was decent, standard Hungry Horse with some really good deals to keep the costs down. The beer selection was good. Staff were lovely. The hotel was fine, it was clean enough for me but as others have pointed out it desperately needs a refurbishment. The rooms did feel run down but I still had a good sleep. Bed was comfy and the shower was powerful (fixed head shower). Free parking with quite a lot of spaces.I used it as a base for Alton Tower (just over 20 mins away). There's a Tesco with a fuel station next door which is handy. There's also a McDonald's if you don't fancy the restaurant.I paid just over £90 per night for a Friday and Saturday. I think given that the rooms need a desperate refurb this price was quite steep. I'd definitely stay here again if it was a bit cheaper.Final thing to note is that there's no air conditioning but the room was generally cool enough given the weather at the time. I did have to open the window to cool the room down at one point. With the window open and facing the rear of the property you can definitely hear the traffic from the adjacent dual carriageway. This might bother some people but I could sleep through it.

We have been here a few times over the years and I'm sorry to say I don't think we will come back. The staff were pleasant, but the restaurant felt grubby. Needs a good clean and replace ripped chairs n general fix up. One of our party has since taken ill with an upset tummy and I'm not sure if it's the food or not.
