Nice selection of cheese, cured meat and salads. Would have 5 stars if price were more reasonable. Funny that crackers selling 30% more expensive than in best cheese mongers in london. And similar on cheese.

As an alternative to fish&chips which we always eat on the beach, I opted for the Waldorf salad and a piece of asparagus quiche from this lovely deli and cheese shop. I was not disappointed, everything tasted divine. When I'm in Aldeburgh next time, I will be sure to pop in again to satisfy my taste buds! Thank you Slate Cheese!

Made our first visit this week and was very pleasantly impressed - a great selection of cheeses and accompaniments but we went for a selection of the pasties which were excellent with a great variety of options, particularly that there was a good range of vegetarian picks too.Very friendly service, nice environment - will absolutely be visiting again.

Cheese was DELICIOUS, cannot fault that. Only issue was that what I ordered wasn't in stock, and I was given a less expensive and smaller replacement. To be fair to the owner, they handled it really well, and I was given a replacement piece of cheese to the same value.

Having been treated to some wonderful cheese from Slate over the summer it was not a difficult decision to order a box of cheese for Christmas. The East Anglian selection box (c£50) was packed full of delicious chesses and a pack of Peter's Yard sourdough crackers. If any one is yet to try Baron Bigod you must immediately rectify that and order from these guys. Fresh cheese, excellent communication and delivery. I can't fault them.

Visited this cheese shop today. From outside it looks very appealing however inside is a different story. Unable to taste the cheeses prior to purchase I felt it was poor to expect someone to buy them without trying. To top it off the sales assistant was rude and unhelpful. Very poor experience indeed.

Called in today to buy some local cheese. The young girl who served me was very knowledgable and pleasant. We have certainly enjoyed the Wells Alpine & the Binham Blue, she recommended. Thank you.

Cheese is a good selection, service is hit and miss, the older chap serving today is superb - wish his colleague would make loud business calls elsewhere in the shop when customers are trying to choose items to buy. There is no excuse to be that loud near cheese.

The most delicious coronation chicken and Waldorf salad I’ve ever tasted. And served by a fellow SAFFA ??.. The window display is enticing with a selection of yummy sausage and vegetation rolls, the aroma of which wafts outside to draw customers in ?

Having been lucky enough to visit Slate in Southwold many times, we were keen to taste the fantastic cheeses at our 25th Anniversary celebration party., this weekend.(All be it covid friendly very small get together). The cheeses we chose were all delicious and delivered as instructed. We gave Lancashire Cheddar Bombs as gifts and they were very gratefully received. Thank you. A brilliant service with fantastic products. Will definately use again as will our friends. Thanks again. Cheese was very good, wrapped nicely and arrived when it was scheduled to. However, an incredible quantity of nonrecyclable/biodegradable materials went into the packaging. Imagine--styrofoam peanuts in this day and age. Mylar insulation. You can do better!tl;dr-- Cheese good, packaging less good.Edit: in light of the response i'm going to amend my review from three to five stars --The cheese really is that good.

I joined the Slate Cheese Club (SCC) in June 2020 after my first visit to the shop in lovely Aldeburgh on a week's holiday last October (a childhood holiday haunt). I was led to the shop by the delicious extra mature Snowdonia Black Bomber cheddar cheese in sandwiches supplied in the Two Magpies bakery on the other side of the High Street. The experinece of entering and exploring the Slate delicatessen was second to none: a verityable cheese paradise! The selection and the staff were A1***. I should not then have left it so long to join the SCC but I avoided repeating that mistake by swiftly placing my first order. I was of course not in the least disappointed with the hamper which arrived in the post a few days later, exactly when requested. In dealing with and delivering the order, Slate's professionalism in preparation, presentation and promptitude was simply superb. Thank you so much. It would be as invidious as it would be impossible to choose between the three items in the East Anglain Cheese selection which I orderd: Baron Bigod, Norfolk Dapple and Bingham Blue. They are sumpuously stellar special! I also added several of the Snowdonia Black Bomber - just in case of an emergency as Paddington Bear says of marmaalde sandwiches! This is but at most just the end of the very beginning. Brilliant customer care and courtesy. Very well done! Thank you so much!
