Rude, unhelpful and obnoxious staff, would never use this place again....don't even look at ya when ya talking to them, one word abrupt answer's, never been to a cafe where staff are so rude and unhelpful...First and last trip to this place...

I had to come on here and post, as this is a lovely cafe. Steeped in History, with a big dining room to the back, comfy sofas, and original ticket booths! Also watching the trains pulling into the station was so relaxing. The breakfasts and cheese scones are amazing. Beautiful coffee, lovely chatty friendly staff, who made sure you had everything you needed, and spotlessly clean. Also a good place to meet new people and chat.

I had the misfortune to come across the rude lady who other people have described. Oh my she was outrageously rude. Don’t ask for the lights to be on for a few minutes so you can see what you are eating because the answer is NO. Followed by if you don’t like it you can leave. So we did never to return.

COULD ANYONE BE MORE RUDE. After friends had been to this place and had a bad experience, I thought as it was a social enterprise and I was in town I’d try it myself. I walked in the door at 13:10, nearly one and a half hours before their stated closing time and was told we’ve just closed by a very abrupt lady. No smile and no apology. I said, do you have anything I can buy? “NO I TOLD YOU WE’RE CLOSED” again very abruptly. Having been in retail all of my working life, I could hardly believe what I was hearing. Giving her the benefit of doubt, I said is there a reason your closing early? “THAT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS” again in the rudest tone. I certainly won’t be going back.

2 hours to wait for my train and a very pleasant and cool time was spent before my train later in the afternoon ? food was excellent!

Ordered, after waiting 15 mins and using facilities during that time, had to catch train before being served, only to be told we had to pay to use facilities in an abrupt manner. Very obnoxious lady!
