Went for late lunch on a Friday and loved every dish of 1921's 5 course taster menu. Staff are always friendly, attentive and informative but not pretentious. Great value for money when I think they provide Michelin quality food. Love love love this place!!!

We had the 5 course tasting menu which was excellent, with many interesting and subtle flavours. The waiter was very helpful and gave us good guidance concerning the wine flight, and explained the wines and courses in detail. All staff were very helpful and welcoming. We would happily return if we were in Bury St Edmunds again.

The coziest and most delicious tasting menu dinner. Perfect end to our visit in Bury St Edmunds. The ambiance was just what we were looking for and the tasting menu was excellent and priced very fairly! We loved it!

Whenever I go to upmarket restaurants I vacillate between Remy and Emile. Part of me wants to linger, enjoying the gustatory complexity and subtlety of expertly assembled dishes. The other half of me just wants to chow down. Amongst a great medley last night were two stand out dishes. The Mersea crab is lovely with a range of textures and tastes from smooth to crunchy, icy to warming, all of which serve to accentuate and elevate the flavour of the crab. A delumptious slow eat postponing the inevitable end of the course, with the forkful being greater than the sum of its parts. That said, the construction was apparent. The aged Suffolk Beef with red wine jus, ox tongue, something pickled and a range of different kohlrabi preparations was curious. Kohlrabi and aged Beef? As it turns out, novel and delicious: a smile inside. Finally, there was just the remains of the red wine jus that hadn't been poured on the beef. The jus just radiated beef. So I gulped it straight down from the jug when the waiter wasn’t looking. Well, you see, there wasn’t a spoon.

Have eaten here a couple of times and enjoyed the tasting menu each time. We chose the 7 dish with wine flight and again was not disappointed. The meal starts with the mixed canapés… it’s impossible to select 4 each so every one was cut in half!!! The frog leg was particularly good! Every dish was immaculately put together and every taste compliments the dish - enhanced even further by a carefully and thoughtfully paired wine selection. We loved our evening, made all the better by funny, informative and attentive team. Would highly recommend.

This was our third visit to 1921 and will certainly not be our last. The food is absolutely superb. The service is nice and friendly and relaxed and you are not rushed through your courses. The whole evening from start to finish was fantastic. Can't wait to return.

If you’re after fine dining with personality, look no further… I can not rate this restaurant highly enough! The food is out of this world, (I don’t know how they are able make a Gazpacho SO flavoursome!) The staff are friendly, informative and laid back which gives the restaurant a lovely atmosphere and the restaurant itself is just beautiful. I would fully recommend going for the tasting menu with wine flight to get the full experience of what they offer. Everything here is absolutely spot on for a fabulous dinner, keep up the great work 1921!
We had a lovely evening at 1921. The staff were polite and attentive, the food was very well presented and was delicious. We opted for the a la carte menu - I had squash en croute and my partner had chorizo stuffed rabbit. Both were excellent. The portions aren’t large so if you have a good appetite I’d suggest going for a starter before the main, or having a dessert afterwards. We chose the selection of cheeses which ended our meal nicely.

Superb food beautifully presented by attentive staff. We usually select the taster menu because it showcases great food and the quality of the chef. The waiters are attentive without being intrusive and they explain each course on the taster menu. The set lunch and a la carte options are super as well if the taster is not for you and the food is supplemented by a good wine list not overly priced as is the food

I love this restaurant! The food is incredible. I have never had a dish that disappointed me. The attention to detail is amazing; the staff are amazing; the petit four are amazing; the whole experience is amazing. If I could eat here every day I would. I love their wine pairing evenings, which are a real treat and so informative. As a group of friends we tend to choose 1921 for celebrations, for lunch, and for any other excuse we can come up with. Personally I give meals here as gifts - and no one has been disappointed: even people who eat at London restaurants that I can only dream of. Would I recommend it? Definitely.

Sensational. So we turned up with a piano stool - I know, that’s random. But stay with me on this. We’ve been before, but this time we brought our aunt an uncle (who are very well traveled and eaten all over the world at some of the best restaurants), and you smashed it! The food, service and team: 100%. We’re coming back at the end of the month. If I had a last supper and 12 friends, and I’m no Jesus, 1921 would be my destination. Thanks for looking after us.
