Comfortable surroundings. Good value lunch time menu with well presented food. The warmed bread was delicious.Walkability: Being a rural pub you would need a car but on an easily accessible route.Noteworthy details: Plenty of space with what looked like a self cotained area for private functions.

Comfortable pub with a laid back atmosphere.

I'm in my mojo

I went here for a works Christmas night and we had food and drinks. The food was nice but personally there was not enough for me and it seems that was the case for others with me, too. Service was quick and the drinks were good. Generally nice atmosphere, also. I wasn't expecting live music either but that proved to add well to the scene. All in all, a bad place.

A fantastic Sunday lunch in December has to be roast turkey with all the trimmings. The Chequers didn't disappoint at all. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you

Friends and I popped i to refuel half way through our cycling session. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (even to the point of lending me some reading glasses to read the menu!) We all had pancakes and the chef was very accommodating and gave me mine with fruit, despite it technically not being on the menu. My friends had a mix and match of pancakes and halloumi. The pub is exceptionally clean and the tables are spaced out, ensuring privacy. The toilets are equally clean, always important! I would say the pancakes were just on the edge of being pricey but, you know, they were tasty so that’s money well spent. The Sunday lunch menu looked interesting especially for vegetarians so I dare say we will return, although not in our Lycra.

The Chequers put us up for the night when we were marooned by the flooding at the end of October. They were friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent and the room everything we could have wished for. So a disastrous journey, motoring through torrents of overflowing rivers, turned into a delightful mini-holiday.

Stayed for a wedding and the visit exceeded expectations. Asked for an early check in and was not a problem. Room was beautiful, quiet, clean and well laid out. The staff on duty were very eager and proactive. The stay was exactly what was advertised. The breakfast in the morning was the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel, fresh local ingredients, cooed as requested on demand. I would recommend this as a stay over for the event venue, for a nice mini break or just as a treat.Food & drinks: Best breakfast ever.

I had to go to Suffolk on business on the 14th October, I had travelled up from Brentwood, little did I know what would be in store for me. The whole area had got flooded from the torrential rain, I was literally driving through puddles that were more like mini rivers, it was quite scary. I saw the Chequers Inn and pulled over and went in, I was hungry, damp and needed the toilet and a bit of comfort I guess. Oh my days what a beautiful place I had entered in to and what a warm welcome I got. The staff there were so accommodating, they lit the log burners to make everywhere cosy, despite river banks bursting around them and water coming towards us, I was one of their customers and they really couldn’t do enough for me. As time went on I enjoyed a gorgeous meal there, met many locals who had come in and who had also been stranded, at one point I even asked if I could take a look at their rooms as I was certain I would not be getting home that day. The rooms was absolutely amazing, very high end specifications in all and so reasonably priced. I knew I was most certainly in the right place. The staff in this place looked after everyone, they were doing dinners making sure everyone was warm, it was complete chaos outside with the weather, yet inside you would not have even known what was unravelling. This pub and its staff are a credit to this village. Since getting back home I am most definitely going back for a long stay, what an incredible place, what a find, as the saying goes every grey cloud has a silver lining, I was so lucky to find the Chequers Inn and to be so looked after as well. Thank you for looking after me that day, I will most definitely be recommending you to everyone and I will most definitely be returning. The way you looked after everyone was just amazing, I will never forget. Thank you so much ? xxxFood & drinks: They had a great menu, reasonably priced with good quality food

Fantastic pub with great accommodation in a lovely location. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was really delicious, the pub was packed with people eating even though its in the middle of nowhere, which says a lot! The Woodland rooms were beautifully decorated and lovely and quiet. The only negative was there was no breakfast which we weren't expecting, but apparently it will be available soon. Some milk with the tea and coffee and perhaps some croissants for breakfast would have made the stay 10/10, as it was I'll give it 9 1/2/10. We will definitely revisit as it is a great location for walking and cycling.

Fantastic little unknown gem. Possibly the most well presented decor I’ve seen. Great staff, rooms and location. Love the woodlands rooms. Would be ideal for a multiple family meet up.
