Stayed for a wedding and the visit exceeded expectations. Asked for an early check in and was not a problem. Room was beautiful, quiet, clean and well laid out. The staff on duty were very eager and proactive. The stay was exactly what was advertised. The breakfast in the morning was the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel, fresh local ingredients, cooed as requested on demand. I had to go to Suffolk on business on the 14th October, I had travelled up from Brentwood, little did I know what would be in store for me. The whole area had got flooded from the torrential rain, I was literally driving through puddles that were more like mini rivers, it was quite scary. I saw the Chequers Inn and pulled over and went in, I was hungry, damp and needed the toilet and a bit of comfort I guess. I went here for a works Christmas night and we had food and drinks. The food was nice but personally there was not enough for me and it seems that was the case for others with me, too. Service was quick and the drinks were good. Generally nice atmosphere, also. I wasn't expecting live music either but that proved to add well to the scene. All in all, a bad place.
