Such a lovely place, can’t believe we haven’t been here before. Staff are so welcoming and such a wonderful waitress. A bowl of water was waiting for our dog and the lovely owner brought out a couple of home made doggie bones for him to chew on. A wonderful meal - the Dover Sole was amazing as was the pork fillet schnitzel with fried egg and anchovies. Started with a cocktail of prawns & smoked salmon and some scallops in a red wine jus which were delicious and finished up with chocolate pecan tart - OMG - heaven on a plate! We will definitely be returning soon to the lovely Scutchers.

The food was delicious and the staff went out of their way to make it a very special birthday lunch.

Wonderful lunch here as always. I always respect how this restaurant is never 'over subscribed' even on a busy day like mothers day when I'm sure they could have booked ten times over. Food, service, staff, ambiance all second to non.

Gorgeous dinner, beautiful food full of delicious flavours. Friendly staff, efficient and effective and nothing was too much trouble. Good selection of wines and something for everyone's budget. Food was served piping hot which always pleases me. We were staying at The Black Lion at Long Melford so a very short walk back to our hotel as this restaurant is virtually next door rather than in the main part of the town.

Well what can I say?!?! This is the best meal we have had in a very long time!!! The food was excellent (the lobster ravioli was to die for as was blue cheese rarebit!), the wine was such buttery goodness (David Moret Rully) and the service was on-point and so friendly! Thanks to the Scutchers Team for a fabulous night. Very recommended!

Being relatively new to the area (we arrived 9 months ago), my wife and I have been looking for an excellent restaurant in the locality that truly provides a "Fine Dining Experience". At last, we have found it with Scutchers. After a first visit for lunch in January (and an excellent lunch it was to) we decided to make it the place for us to have dinner on Valentine's Day. We were not disappointed. Chef and owner Nick Barrett consistently delivers great tasting dishes, regardless of the occasion. We were fortunate to have a chat with him during our meal. His wife and front of house team looked after us superbly well. All round, Scutchers deliver dining experiences to remember at a price which is fair. We will be back.

Today I visited Scutchers for the first time and was much impressed by the restaurant's ambience, food and service. Situated in the lovely Suffolk village of Long Melford Scutchers also makes an interesting destination. It is only a short walk from Long Melford's sensational church. Visiting with my wife and two friends, together we tried a broad spread of dishes. I began with a deeply flavoured chicken consommé which I enjoyed with homemade bread and freshly churned butter. For my main course I tried the restaurant's duck. It was soft and flavoursome being served with a light orange sauce, a little similar to the famous 'Duck a la orange' of French origen. Later, and after a brief space of time chatting, we all turned our attention to the dessert menu. I needed no encouragement to choose the tart tatin, a dish I have always loved. Scutcher's version was first class. It was sweet and squishy but not overly so. At Scutchers the polite, friendly service was as good as the food.

My husband, daughter and I had a fantastic dinner here on Thursday night. We sat by a blazing fire for pre dinner drinks. I loved that the dining tables are so well spaced that you are not near anyone else. The service was charming and attentive and the food was incredibly good and amazing value for money. I've eaten in many places where food of this calibre would be twice the price. We live in Oxfordshire but if we were local this would be our go to venue. Planning another visit next year.

Our first visit to Scutchers. We were very impressed. The service from Di and Sarah was excellent. The Menu was varied and every item we had was delightful. We enjoyed a fine Bourgogne, by the glass - how unusual ! In all, an wonderful lunch and we hope to return to the restaurant very soon. 10/10 - thankyou - John Roberts

Scutchers opened last night especially for me to entertain 40 guests on the occasion of my 80th birthday. What a success it was! Nick cooked us a wonderful three course meal and Diane and her front of house team served us with the excellent proficiency we have come to expect whenever dining there. Reports from our guests indicate that they were delighted with the ambiance of the venue and the quality of the cuisine. Well done Nick & Diane and here's to my 90th bash in the fulness of time.

I can see why this gets great reviews, its a very nice restaurant and an interesting building inside, with lovely food and a good wine selection, we just found it lacked a bit of soul / character inside, it might be because of the times? The food was lovely, well presented with great service, and for a very reasonable cost.

Went for lunch with two girlfriends and it was FANTASTIC, as usual. The service was great, food gorgeous! I struggle to understand some of the negative comments about Scutchers, maybe these people are used to a different style of restaurant!!
