Hidden little gem and my go to every time we are in the area. Do not be fooled by the appearance of the restaurant the food and staff are amazing. The owner has no interest in large groups just a small amount of customer so he can guarantee you will love the food.

If this restaurant was within 30 miles of our home we would go every couple of weeks, but it is over 200 miles away, so we can only go when we are in the area on holiday a couple of times a year. The Fortune Cookie Restaurant serves absolutely amazing food in clean and spacious surroundings and wine and beer very reasonably priced. Parking is allowed after 6.00 on the single line in Mill Road, which is fine as it doesn't open until 6.30 Tuesday to Sunday. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly owner, Jim, who welcomed us as warmly on our first night back in Lowestoft as he did on four other nights when we could think of nowhere we'd prefer to eat! The food is freshly cooked and any preferences are noted, so we are already looking forward to our next holiday and having dinner here again - at least three or four times!

This was our second visit in comparatively short time. Absolutely superb and should be packed out. Each time we had wonderful starters, great Chinese tea and just superb main courses especially good to have great vegetarian for me. Sweet and sour quorn to die for, partners meat dishes he said were wonderful. Best pineapple fritters ever. Best surprise each time - the bill. £30 for two. I would like to see them lower ceiling which will help them with heating in winter and add to cosiness of visit. We are so lucky to have this jewel of a restaurant, clean, terrific food, nice staff. We will be back and back Diana and John

We were staying in the local area on holiday and visited Fortune Cookie. From the outside, it looked unassuming but I was completely surprised how good the meal was! The service was excellent, the manager was so friendly and talking to all the customers - something which is so rare these days! The prices were very reasonable and we ordered a lot of different dishes to try and everything was delicious! The decor isn't very exciting but the food and service more than makes up for it! Such a shame it wasn't busy when we visited as they could do so well. Definitely a hidden gem! Will be back if we were to come back to the local area.

It was fantastic food and great value. The spare ribs are to die for & the duck is so delicious. Crispy beef is the best I’ve ever had.

Brilliant evening meal and so reasonably priced: eg. £13.95 for a good bottle of Hardy's merlot. Crisp spicey squid and chicked satay starters followed by a superb crispy beef and marinated duck with beansprouts, excellent. This was our second high quality meal at Fortune Cookie.

One of the nicest Chinese I have had and very reasonably priced too. We found whilst on holiday, and read reviews, shame we don't live locally, otherwise we would be back!

A very friendly, family-run restaurant serving delicious, traditional Chinese food. Each dish lovingly prepared and served to order.Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian options available.Kid-friendliness: Everything is made to order, so if you ask for a mild dish you actually get a mild dish.

It had been a while since our last takeaway from here but we thought to try it again and were very pleased with the food. We enjoyed three dishes, chicken with spring onion and ginger, fried rice with cashews and pineapple, and some crispy beef. All three dishes were tasty, and the crispy beef was the best we have ever enjoyed in a Chinese takeaway...nicely crispy and not (as can often be the case) chewy / tough. Prices were reasonable...rice was £5.20, the other two dishes £12 between them. Portions were decent and just enough for the two of us, and a small bag of prawn crackers was included wit the order as well as one 'fortune cookie'. The owner is always very polite and happy and we will certainly not hesitate to order from here again. There is limited parting on street near by.
