This restaurant is part of the Best Western Hatfield Hotel and The Terrace Bar. An upmarket pleasant space with great sea views. The tediously obvious unimaginative menu is produced to a reasonable competence. It could be so much better! See the salt and pepper! I rest my case.

We've been here quite a few times, Food is generally gorgeous although noticed the caesar salad has recently become noticeably smaller but the Croutons were lush. Staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant is always clean and tidy.

Waited an hour for a fish fingers sandwich and chips. Food was so greasy it was inedible and made me and my kids feel ill all night. Definitely wouldn't recommend. Manager didn't seem to care either

Walked in without reservation on a Saturday afternoon and were seated with a friendly welcome. Drinks came quickly and whilst there was a little wait for food it was reasonable and always helps when you have a great sea view to stare at. Food was really good, cooked well and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend but if you’re in a hurry and not happy to sit and take in the view while food is cooked I’d advise going out of peak times.

Today was Armed Forces Day in Lowestoft which 3 of us attended. We had a table booked for 1.00 pm for lunch. The place was heaving and the poor staff were run ragged. We are of the opinion that this situation should have been envisaged by the management and steps should have been taken to have sufficient staff to cover the number of diners. It was gone 2.00 pm by the time we had our meals. We had ordered fish and chips but were served fish and fries as there were no chips available. It took ages for a second round of drinks to come. Likewise the bill.

Kindly squeezed in for dinner, I’m so glad they were able to as the food was divine! My tuna carpaccio was perfectly served, lightly seared whilst leaving the majority sashimi raw (where you could notice the quality!), was enhanced by the sesame seed crust and Thai dipping sauce, and was twice the size of what I’m used to in London! The fish and chips was also exquisite; a huge piece of haddock with a delicious batter (closer to a crispy tempura than the oily stuff you sometimes get), homemade tartare sauce and proper chip shop chips. Noticeably seasoned with sea salt crystals rather than ground salt, it would seem the chef knows how to season/garnish with flavoursome ingredients.Overall, it would be my number 1 choice when back in the area, highly recommended! Thanks guys, it was a lovely meal! ?

I visited with my son first day today and was very disappointed, we ordered 2 chicken ceasar salads one with chicken and the other with chicken and anchovies, the menu states with herb croutons these had no herbs and were soggy and tasted old some not even toasted just cubed bread, the menu states shaved parmesan and they arrived with no parmesan at all, the dressing on the lettuce was very nice but 5 very thin small pieces of chicken, we ordered fries and they were very nice, definitely not worth the money for what I thought was a bowl of lettuce with dressing on

2 stars only because the fish and chips was delicious, the service was terrible, member of staff was rude when we walked in to ask to book a table for later in the day.

Good service, friendly staff and the food (1* cod and chips + 1* sausage and chips) were good, with good sized portions, would recommend this place.

Food was lovely but cups and tea spoons were dirty but they were replaced with clean ones straight away.

You can tell this used to be quite a fancy place but it's a bit tired now. Ok-fair carvery but what can you expect for £10er.

Good location, food below average, service disorganised. Needs someone to over see. A shame!

Slow to serve but good food , slapped the food down without a hint of condiments, some staff training needed.
