This was probably our 4th visit to Sutherland House over quite a few years. We visited with friends and managed to bag their only table for four which was good. Service was friendly and the food was excellent as always. I enjoyed the sole for a main & bread and butter pudding for dessert.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sutherland House. Our meal was outstanding. Scallops to start, Sole for main, an orange bread and butter pudding to die for to finish all washed down with a fantastic NZ Sauvignon Blanc completed a superb meal. The establishment is run by a husband and wife team who clearly have everything down to fine art. If you’re visiting Southwold don’t miss an opportunity to eat at this exceptional restaurant. Just two minor points; turn up on time and don’t ask for tomato ketchup, you’ve been warned. The owner is a character and the world is a better place for characters.

We enjoyed a superb meal in a comfortable and historic building. The Sutherland House Suffolk sparkling white was a great start to the evening and the high quality was maintained throughout the meal. Excellent ingredients, skill in the kitchen to create depth and variety in flavours, and friendly service all added together to make a highly pleasurable experience. A very appealing wine list too.

Beautiful and ambient setting, full of character. The food was amazing, attention to flavour combinations and locally sourced ingredients all served attentively. An absolutely fantastic venue for special occasions. We had an incredible meal and will definitely return again.

The food was out of this world, the waitress’s was so helpful and friendly. We had scallops on risotto as starter wow and then we had haddock loin wrapped in Parma ham with fried spouts and crushed new potatoes and to finish apple crumble cheesecake. It one of many reasons to go back to Southwold. It was great

Managed to book a table for four, so glad we did. The positive reviews are totally justified. Dinner was delicious and good value, will definitely book again when next in the area assuming I am fortunate enough to get a table.

A really fine experience at Sutherland House (again). The cooking is interesting and intricate, and fortunately tastes good, too. Nice wine at fair prices, and attentive and friendly service. The atmosphere is cosy and the music discreet, so one can easily have a quiet conversation without listening in to others. It's perfect for an evening out for two.
