12 Queen St, SouthwoldEnjoyed our coffee & hot chocolate plus cake. We sat in the back it's a bit cramped and the coffee machine is so noisy you can't have a conversation. Every table in the back was saying the same. Toilets are outside over a high stepped door. No good for me as I'm disabled. No offer for

ninedeli
9 Pinkney's Ln, SouthwoldJames welcomed us as we walked through the door and allowed us to read the menu. He held a table for us for an hour whilst we wandered along the seafront. The roast chicken Sunday lunch was excellent: half a hen, fluffy but crisp roast potatoes, delicious gravy and perfectly al dente vegetables. Equally delicious was the fish of the day, sea bass. Nothing was too much for James. Did we want potatoes with the fish? No? Then what would you like in substitution? Bottomless coffee was encouraged, and a dessert of chocolate tiffin or orange and coconut cake with ice cream provided a suitable finish. No pressure on time. Plenty of space but enough interaction and interest in us and what we were doing (walking the Sandlings Way).

Pit Stop Cafe
York Rd, SouthwoldArriving on holiday we were very lucky to notice the Pitstop cafe sign on York road . We had driven round and round looking for a parking space so we could get some lunch after a long journey. The welcome was very friendly and helpful. As mum does not have a huge appetite. We decided on a toastie to share and a bowl of chips . The lady was very helpful and gave us an extra plate no problem. The toastie was good but the salad was delicious. Freshly prepared and a huge variety from radish to grapes . Thank you very much for our delicious lunchKid-friendliness: There was everything a child would love to play on or with in a safe space

Dining at Sutherland House
56 High St, SouthwoldThis was probably our 4th visit to Sutherland House over quite a few years. We visited with friends and managed to bag their only table for four which was good. Service was friendly and the food was excellent as always. I enjoyed the sole for a main & bread and butter pudding for dessert.

Adnams Brewery
Sole Bay Brewery, E Green, SouthwoldFantastic tour provided by a passionate and informative guide Sally. Really worth it to understand not just the beer making process but also the history of the brewery and Southwold itself. The tour is well thought out and tells the story from grain to bottle with a great tasting session at the end and a voucher to use in the shop for an extra treat after. We only had 4 on the tour so got to listen to Sally very clearly and came away with a great understanding and greater appreciation for the process.

The Lord Nelson
The Lord Nelson, 42 East St, SouthwoldYour typical Cosy coastal pub!Owned by Adnams brewery so they mainly stock there own drinks. When we visited there wasn't many tables, and it was quite busy, but the fire was going which was welcoming on a rainy day.Only had drinks here, so can't comment on the food (which was pizza day)

Cafe Fifty One
51 High St, SouthwoldWe visited for breakfast as it had varying options to choose from. The cooked breakfast was excellent with great ingredients, cooked well. The pancakes were home made, light and fluffy served with berries. Double shot flat white coffee was also excellent. We enjoyed this in their small courtyard, but the interior of the restaurant also looked lovely.

Suzie's Cafe
Promenade, SouthwoldA genuinely friendly and happy bunch of people serving, great coffee and Mövenpick ice cream. Put that together with nice weather and the waves gently breaking on the beach, I can think of worst ways to spend an hour or so.

Sole Bay Inn Southwold
7 E Green, SouthwoldGreat beer and food. The Landlord here is really on the case by leading from the front and taking an active part in running a pub.The pub was extremely busy people waiting for tables etc. He took an active part in organising people that were waiting into getting a table in order of them waiting, full credit to him.

Harbour Inn
Black Shore, SouthwoldFood was lovely and it's an Adnams pub so the beer is obviously good. Very busy on this bank holiday weekend so it was very busy and therefore quite a long wait for service. Staff friendly and helpful though.

Anchor at Walberswick
The St, Walberswick, SouthwoldBooked a table for the evening. Excellent service. Quality of food and drink was first-rate. Quite pricey, but worth it. The only down side is the poor choice for veggies. I think there was one veggie option out of about eight mains. An older review mentions this, so they haven't yet made any changes yet.

The Clockhouse
Pier, N Parade, SouthwoldNot the cheapest and drinks and food served in paper cups but food and drink were great. A wee bit on the dear side to me. 3 hot drinks and 2 slices of cake were over £17!

Beach Bistro
Pier, SouthwoldWe've been going to the Beach Bistro in Southwold for a few years and have always enjoyed the food.LocationThe fish n' chip shop is ideally and centrally located at the entrance to the pier. You can get access from either outside or from inside the arcades. Loads of seating are available outside, ideal when the weather cooperates but not so good when in the rain. Occasionally, we'll hire a beach hut, bring it back, and eat inside our hut - it's such a great way to enjoy fish and chips at the seaside!PriceWe've always found the price to be quite reasonable. We've previously ordered some bespoke items (such as calamari), which is perhaps more on the punchy side, but otherwise, it's pretty much what you'd expect to pay at the coast.FoodThe food is superb! An easy 5-star from all of us. The fish is super tasty, cooked well, and has a nice crispy batter. The fish portion size is reasonable (not too large or too small) and consistent. The chips are also great. Maybe the fish-to-chip ratio is slightly off (a few more chips would be appreciated), but honestly, that's just a minor criticism. Otherwise, all good-If you're in Southwold, you've got a few potential spots for traditional seaside food, but I don't think you can go much wrong at the Beach Bistro. Thanks, we'll be back soon.Kid-friendliness: The Beach Bistro is next to the arcades at the pier, and kids are welcome.Parking: There’s plenty of paid parking, few a couple of mins from the pier.

Marks Fish Shop
32 High St, SouthwoldFresh fish, cooked to order in crispy batter, just about perfect after a long hike or amble around town. There’s space to eat at a table inside which is welcome if the weather is less favourable. Usual range of fried foods, reasonably priced and very tasty. Oh, and they make a decent cuppa tea.
