Every time I have been in I get a unsettling glare off of the chap who cooks the food. The girl's are friendly and helpful though but the food portions are kid size, chip's soggy and mushy! Batter tasteless and dripping in grease ! The atmosphere and vibe I get off the chap is that he does not want me in there so I'm more than happy to oblige ! Bad atmosphere, over priced, under portioned and the food is inedible.Over all a very disappointing experience that I do not wish to relive.

Service was good but the food was extremely poor. The chips were overcooked and dried out, over salted and oily. It was not the freshest tasting fish and the batter was very dark, greasy, soaked in and tasting of old oil that needs changing. One of the worst fish and chips I've ever eaten and couldn't finished it, even after picking off the batter.

We are down on holiday and fancied fish and chips. The staff were very friendly, helpful and served us quickly. The fish, scampi and chips we got were absolutely top notch! We would recommend Mark’s to everyone.

Quite disappointed, not sure if its under new ownership but we have been coming here for years and have always been pleased. Went In recently for takeaway, chips were not the best and were very expensive for the portion size, although the service was great.

Cod was decent enough but assume I was given a children's portion by mistake (despite not having kids)....chips very mushy again a "regular" portion must have been mistaken for a kid's portion....a couldn't care less attitude and above average price means I wished I'd gone to the cute chip shop down the road(with a big queue)

Surprised at recent recent reviews, we had 2 small fish & chips between us: I have a biggish appetite, though my wife doesn't, and we found it plenty between us. Fish was perfectly cooked, hot, and fresh. Staff were friendly too. It's true that the "restaurant" is really just a seating area, but it did the job for us.

Very greasy, thin fish suspect batter, chip’s greasy but at leat better than the other place in southwold, shame southwold doesn’t have a good fish and chip shop

Fish and chips the worst we have ever had. Might as well as throwing £28 off the end of the pier! Unsuspecting tourists beware.

Great fish and chips and service, (No toilet to use on the premises? didn't think it was allowed for a restaurant?

Been coming to Marks for years. Been three times in the last couple of months. Always have friendly faces. Fish is cooked to perfection We eat plaice. Chips are lovely too , might be a few little bits of hard chips mixed in but even they are tasty . Comes in a box which stays together no leaks . Cost us £10 each. Well worth it !

Lovely service but the quality was poor. Really small portions for the price and the cod batter was thin and soggy. I wouldn’t bother again.

Sorry but the food was awful, fish was awful and over cooked batter and the Chips were undercooked and pale, soggy and quite honestly a small child’s portion, the prices are embarrassing, walk down the town to much better options
