A deceptively large shed that could not be more picturesque if it tried! Accessed on foot during a beach walk, or by car along a potholed track through a working river mooring area, it looks too ‘insta’ to be real… however once inside the fish takes over. Fresh, smoked, prepared, everything. Prices are very reasonable and the team are knowledgable, hands on and friendly.

This a genuinely unique place to go for fish and chips. There is an outside seating area overlooking the harbour and fishing boats. The service is good, the staff were really friendly and attentive. The haddock was beautiful although the batter was a bit on the soggy/greasy side. Slightly disappointed at having to pay £1 each for cheap ketchup; expected for Stokes or Heinz, but not cheap watery ketchup. We will however definitely be going back again - what a lovely spot.

Great fish and chips, probably a couple of quid dearer than your local chippie.

“Everyone” knows about this lovely “secret” (and if that’s not a hint to get there early…). The quality of the fish, chips & the wonderful batter was superb. We opted for the haddock as we dare to be different &, what a great choice it was! If all haddock tasted this good, I’d be off the cod for good. There’s a couple of things that, sadly, might deter some of you. Owing to a recent fire, the Sole Bay Fish Company at Walberswick currently (Autumn’23) only offers outside seating & doesn’t do cups of tea. Not a big problem on a warm Saturday afternoon in September but, nonetheless, a pity. Let’s hope that they get permission to rebuild. In the meantime, bring a layer or two to wear.

This was my best part of my trip to Southwold. £6 for two pints of fresh peel on prawns. Add a beer and could have sat there all day shelling prawns. Next time 4 pints at that price. I can’t complain at that. Vibrant and friendly I will be returning and very soon.Bring your own lemon wipes ?

An amazing little fish and chip shop serving some amazing food with a brilliant atmosphere. Sole Bay Fish Company has some amazing tasting fish and chips, all presented really nicely in their own unique packaging which I think makes all the difference. The chips are very nice being lovely and fluffy on the inside with that golden brown texture on the outside. The battered cod is also really tasty which breaks apart easily and is nice and white. Their is plenty to choose from on their menu and the prices are more than reasonable. The restaurant as a whole is decorated beautifully with a modern and rustic look to appeal to all generations and ages. I especially love the little outside courtyard where you can wait for your food to be prepared for takeaway. They also give you these amazing hand held buzzers which buzz when you’re food is ready. This is a great addition to an already perfect business, but just makes the process easier when ordering and collecting your food. If you’re in Southwold, I highly recommend this fish and chip shop over others.

Not the best platter we've ever had. Wasn't advertised so we had to ask if they even had it. Lobster didn't taste of much and they didn't have any pepper! #peppergate Disappointed.

We had walked from Dunwich so had worked up an appetite. It was a sunny Saturday so there was a bit of a wait but we got chatting to people and time flew by… after all it’s not a bad place to sit and chill! The food was spot on. I did laugh when my two fairly small prawns arrived on a plate but they were so delicious that they’re forgiven for that and I would have them again. I saw a review complaining about the price for sauces but they neglected to mention you get a massive pot so could easily share between 2 or 3 people. Can’t wait to visit again

The freshest oysters you can imagine, shucked right infront of us, alongside a pint of shell-on prawns, washed down with two local ciders. Sat in the sun, overlooking the river. Doesn’t get much better! We will be back

Just had the worst fish & chips EVER!!! Fish mostly tasteless batter and incredibly dry fish. Chips dry, eaten here before and it’s been ok. Also queued got almost 2 hours, absolutely awful

What a treat! Fresh seafood, great selection and friendly service. We chose dressed crab with a baguette - yum! The platters and fish n chips looked delicious too. Highly recommend ?
