The food here is delicious. We visited yesterday tea time, it was packed. We waited a good 20 minutes to order and the same again waiting for it to be cooked. It was the weekend, tea time though. It's only once you queue for sometime and get inside to order there's a sign saying, fried in beef dripping. I think this should be posted in the main shop window at the front of the shop so any vegetarians waiting can find an alternative.

Great fish and chips! They don't do gluten free batter, but they will fry a fish sans batter and I am just as happy with that!Really tasty fish (comes with a wedge of lemon), great chips, and homemade sauces ? all the salt and vinegar is on a shelf so you get to do it yourself which I loved.Bit more expensive than your average F&C but it was worth it.Friendly staff too!

Excellent and very popular fish and chips so you will likely have a bit of a wait, but worth it. Varied menu, freshly prepared

This place was absolutely rammed; and the queue outside filled the alley under the arbour. Despite this, timely service with freshly cooked fish. I’m fact, the gosh was the tastiest haddock I’ve had in a while! Tartare sauce seems homemade and complimented the dish perfectly

Read previous reviews that raved about this place. After a long wait outside our takeaway order was ready. Apart from the chips having a good flavour, these were mediocre fish and chips and not that hot either. As it's Southwold you also pay a premium.

We’ve been here a few times, it’s always good but very busy and the wait can be quite long at times. Last year, for example, we drove to Southwold to visit this chippy but didn’t stop as the queue was past co op. This time we went mid afternoon, much better and quieter, avoiding the evening rush. Haddock and chips, cod and chips, a can of pop came to around £21. Not cheap but bloody good. Just enough to fill us both, the batter was crispy and dry and stayed crispy to the last mouthful. Very good once again.

Great fish and chips, lovely flavour and quality. Waited as it was cooked, worth it. Go if you enjoy Fish & Chips

The most AMAZING fish & chip shop! Reasonably priced and fantastic portions. Took 10 minutes for it to be cooked but well worth the wait. Will definitely be returning!

Sadly our holiday craving for fish & chips wasn’t quite satisfied here. Our rather pricey take away haddock & chips ( x 2 ) were cooked to order and piping hot but the fish itself was thin watery and tasteless and the huge portion of chips were soggy, bland and somehow difficult to swallow - maybe its the season for poor quality fish and spuds ? We’d have been much happier with smaller portions and better quality.

Dropped in whilst visiting Southwold, I opted for sausage and chips - both were much better than I have had elsewhere and nice to see a chip shop sausage that has good flavour! Just one to note the Fish comes with skin on! Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Southwold!

Husband & I both had cod & chips. As fabulous as ever. Piping hot & freshly cooked. We can take our dog in too which is another reason we go there. We stay in Great Yarmouth and always go to Southwold to get our fish and chips here. Can’t get anything like it where we live in Kent. Love it.

After reading other reviews, sounded great! so we thought we would try this place for cod & chips. The chips were undercooked and very hard , we did go nearer closing time and the staff did seem rushed , just think they wanted to close really. We have had better fish & chips elsewhere.

Best fish and chips we`ve had in a long time. Taste, freshness, crispiness, unbeatable. Well organised with a beeper to let you know when your order is ready . Shame about poorly supervised children but thats down to the parents. Won`t stop us going back though. Great food.

We had cod chips and home made curry sauce, both agreeing it was up there with the best we had ever had x
