After having confirmed our booking for 3 rooms we had a call to say the booking had been cancelled due to a conference booking. The booking was then reinstated a few days later. When we arrived we were told the restaurant was closed due to staff shortage. Due to building work the view from one of the rooms was a wooden fence 1meter from the window

Room clean, staff attentive but hotel very outdated. Many facilities in the room were broken or not working correctly. It was cheap, you get what you pay for but does need refurbishment which in this economic climate may be a financial challenge

Best Western The Cedars Hotel Stowmarket Skin crawling experience 846113025 The two staff I dealt with were pleasant enough but my advice is AVOID use the Premier in at Claydon and get a taxi into Stowmarket. Below is my reply to the manager after my initial feedback, ie The room was at least colour co ordinated as the stains on the walls matched the stains on the carpet"! And my comments to Best Western management. My reply below to the manager after my initial review, I am amazed that Best Western still represent a place with such low standards and total misrepresentation! when I booked I intended to use the restaurant, on arrival was told bed and breakfast only, ( I feel I dodged a bullet there ) If I had turned up there with my wife having booked a (Superior Double ) a laughable but not funny misrepresentation , after seeing the room and lack of cleanliness would have left and booked somewhere else. This experience has made me think twice about using Best Western again if there is such a cavalier attitude to what standards Best Western represents! I am thinking to stick with the major hotel brands from now on and not risk that skin crawling experience again. Regards Andy Yeomans Hi Shaun Thank you for coming back to me. Major refurbishment will not help with overall cleanliness, the wall was stained, the bin was covered in stains I had to wash the mugs before using them as they had stains on them too ( they had not been washed properly ) this is down to a lack of care and cleanliness, while waiting to check out on Thursday I watched a young man hoovering! Obviously never been shown how to use a vacuum cleaner it just made me smile and understand why the place is unclean, a rebuild will not fix lack of care. I am done on this subject, I will never stay again.

Hotel needs LOTS of tlc. Breakfast a disaster on both mornings which led to checking out a day early. Restaurant closed not informed until arriving at check in despite this being the case since the hotel had reopened.

No one on reception when we arrived just a notice telling us to go to the bar which was a bit difficult with our suitcase. The girl behind the bar was pleasant but we got to the room I was really shocked by the condition of it. Our view was a chipboard hoarding just feet from the window which had broken latches. The curtains were ragged and as thin as bed sheets. The mattress was so worn it caused roll together so we had a horrendously uncomfortable night. The shower was inadequate and barely warm. The general appearance, both inside and out was shabby, grubby and neglected. I am shocked that Best Western has the cheek to even put people in these rooms at any price.

It is so dated and smells of mold and is very musty. Owners have said they are revamping later in the year but that does not help those staying now.

We booked a 2 night stay with my sister and her husband. The reception and main corridor had a filthy stained carpet and the area had an unpleasant smell of cooking and damp. The first night we were in room 18. Although the room was clean and well equipped, the 1960s coral pink bathroom suite caused a deal of hilarity. As our stay progressed things went from amusing to aweful. There was one central bedroom light with a dim bulb hardly bright enough to read by. No bedside lights. The bathroom had a central light with an even dimmer bulb. The shaving light above the washbasin had no bulb at all. The smaller bedroom window had a blind which was broken. The bed was ancient. Attempting a shower in the morning I spent 5 minutes trying to adjust the temperature. It was either cold or scolding hot and I eventually gave up. I think this shower is frankly dangerous and the thought of a child or anyone with mobility issues trying to use is quite horrific. There was only luke warm water from the wash basin hot tap. We asked to move room and the second night we were in room 17 which was very much better. Bright and cheerful and almost everything worked apart from a broken toilet seat and an I'll fitting wash basin plug. We used a hand towel in the bath as there was no nonslip shower mat. Another prehistoric bed. Those of our group who had a cooked breakfast enjoyed it but the cold buffet was sparse and unappetising. When checking out I asked for a discount on the basis that on our first night the ensuite was unusable. The receptionist told me that he was only authorised to offer 10 percent and promised that the manager would phone me by the end of the day. I am still waiting. The hotel is due for major refurbishment. It can't happen soon enough and until then, this is one to avoid. I am really surprised that it is allowed to operate under the Best Western brand. It is nowhere near the standard one would normally expect of a Best Western hotel.

I stopped at this property for an overnight stay when traveling for business, the hotel looks a little tired from the outside, but the team made up for the building with the positiveness and helpfulness, over all good and i will stay again.

Very dated, old rooms. No curtains on ground floor window, beds felt like they were years and years old. Just really revolting. It wasn’t unclean but everything was so old it just felt disgusting. I feared putting my head on the pillow to sleep
