Stopped here for some lunch so glad we did. We were made very welcome. Plenty of choice on the menu but we opted for some soup. Carrot and cauliflower, an unusual combination but absolutely delicious.

Can't comment in the hotel but we had an excellent lunch in this spacious pub. Ales well kept. Lunches were very generous sizes. Fish finger sandwich superb. Friendly service. Plenty of parking. Recommended.

Lovely pub...we had sandwiches and a macaroni cheese...sandwiches were well filled and lovely side salad....I hate when people leave their salad...if they don't want it don't have it....and mac cheese tasty....didn't have overnight stay so no idea on rooms

A lovely pub in the centre of Orford village. Good food.
This review is based on a number of visits not one specific occasion. I write as a local to Orford and a regular user of the pub for drinks to meet friends. After I long gap of not eating at the Kings Head, along with my family and a friend we decided to eat there for a pre Christmas meal. It was excellent in every way. Since then I have been there a number number of times with family, my mother has eaten there several times with her friends as has my mother's neighbour with his family and friends. On every occasion the Kings Head has provided five star quality without exception. Praise needs to be given when it is deserved and in this case Ian and Suzanne the landlord and lady richly deserve it. The sunday roast (not served in summer months) is exceptional with generously filled plates and is one of the best pub roasts I have ever had. All the other menu items from fish and chips to pie of the day, crock pot creations to Thai style curry are of equal quality and size and all are fairly priced. The service is provided by well mannered youngsters from local families and they all do a great job to look after the customer. I would recommend any visitor to Orford to dine at The Kings Head. I am confident you will not be disappointed.

We were attracted by the board outside advertising the daily ‘Crockpot Special’. Service was lacklustre, but two very modest portions of the ‘Italian Sausage Crockpot Special’ eventually arrived, having been ladled into a cold cast-iron pot. Two cold bowls were provided, plus a rubbery-looking small powdery white baguette (of the supermarket bake-at-home variety) to share. The food was delicious but there wasn’t enough of it, and we are not greedy. It cooled down far too quickly because of the cold receptacles. The bread was disgusting, and not what we expected with the Pump Street Bakery a minute’s walk away. The beer - Ghost Ship - was great. We mentioned the cold pot and plates to the waitress and she said they were usually hot but the cook ‘hadn’t had time to warm them because a big party had come in’. There were several empty tables and the restaurant was nowhere near full. I couldn’t see a big party. This place could be good, but we’re not tempted to return.

Dropped in for lunch on a Sunday with no booking. We were rapidly found a table for four even though the pub was busy. Our order was taken promptly, questions regarding Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free status of various dishes was checked by one of the waiters and well explained. The food was simple but well presented and in line with current pub food prices, the room, tables and loos were all very clean and tidy. The most notable aspect was, however, the staff. Abby was leading a team of 4 at the bar and it appeared that she was training 2 of them. She showed great skill in teaching them without it having a negative impact on service, she showed great leadership skills, presented a good role model and as far as I was aware the customers all received great service. This was a busy lunchtime, much appreciated!
