Awful experience, unfortunately. Went for a birthday meal and understood parking was free to customers. A year later I’ve had a CCJ order for parking there, and absolutely no response from The Crown on email or phone when I try contact them.Food & drinks: Average

Staff are helpful. Food is decorative and tasty. Caters for gluten free and other dietary requirements.

Attended the Crown for an early Christmas lunch with family - The food was excellent and the staff tried very hard. The only negative the dining table was very unstable, normally I'd would have wedged something under to solve the problem but was informed by a staff member it was the table that was broken , advise , get shot of the table !!!

I had been so excited to eat a fully vegan meal, and to be honest? I was underwhelmed.I started with pitta bread and hummus (because my friend was running late). The hummus was the saltiest thing I have ever consumed at a restaurant, I love salt, luckily, and ate it all because I was starving, but it was SO salty. Like, verging on unmanageable. I asked the server to talk to the chef and I didn’t get feedback. I asked again, and she told me that no one had ever said that before and the other table had no problem. (I suggested that if they make food fresh, perhaps it was double salted?) But I clarified that I would appreciate her talking to the chef to see what they thought. This remains a mystery as my question was not answered, for a second time. The bao buns were nice, but very dry. The hoisin sauce was completely absorbed. I ate it because it tasted lovely but it was quite claggy. The chips were delicious! The sticky toffee pudding was extremely strange in both taste and consistency, and the ice cream had no flavor. To top it all off, the server came across as very rude, she completely ignored me and talked to my friend only even though I had booked the meal, paid for the meal and I was the one trying to communicate with her. She literally wouldn’t look at me and specifically talked to my friend but said nothing to me. I was quite offended and my friend noticed too, and felt uncomfortable also. For the price? Wouldn’t recommend. The service was terrible, such a shame! I love to see vegan friendly places but on this occasion the crown missed in a big way.

Because of having to leave our car in Ipswich for 3 hours for a windscreen repair, we decided to visit Woodbridge for the first time. The lunch at The Crown was quite disappointing. The restaurant was short staffed and one of the two waitresses had limited mobility because of a BMI in excess of 50. Service was therefore very slow. The food was of variable standard with the best dish the sourdough bread to start and the worst the "bratwurst" which was the chefs recommendation! The bratwurst was smothered in American mustard and ketchup and in a soft bun which is somewhat at variance with how bratwurst is normally served on the continent and made it almost inedible. A portion of chips was five large wedges as illustrated.

Went for a Sunday evening meal. Hadn't booked but the servers were very accommodating. Lovely drink in the bar first. Bartender was very knowledgeable about the gin range. Asked if there was anything vegan on the menu and the waiter went out of his way to check with the chef on dishes, including checking if the gravy was vegan too. Delicious food, fantastic service, lovely atmosphere.

From start to finish, everything was excellent. Amy at the restaurant was superb, so friendly, genuine and helpful. All staff were very friendly and provided excellent customer service. Rooms were very clean and pleasant. Restaurant was outstanding… every meal terrific, do NOT miss their speciality eggs benedict! Appreciated the provided face cloths and skin/hair/hand products. Could not recommend more highly - will definitely stay again.

Can't comment on rooms as didn't stay. But dinner Tues eve was excellent. Very good service. Despite not having the seabass (which I'd asked for at the time of booking) the chef offered swordfish which I preferred! The dish was delicious as was the starter of tempura tenderstem broccoli. Hubby had fish & chips with gf batter also very good. Best was the service. Our waitress was lovely. Nothing too much trouble. Same for the staff in the afternoon as we had popped in for refreshments. Would definitely recommend.

Had the Afternoon tea. Lovely ideas & flavours. But the service was very disjointed. Savoury came out, after we finished, came the scones, after that dessert. No tea or coffee was offered, we had to go to the bar to ask!!! The only part of tea that was explained what we were about to eat was the dessert section. Service let the afternoon tea experience down.

Breakfast is not great and expensive for what you get. Breakfast served without toast, so I had to wait for it to come. I had to ask the waitress for cutlery. Ordered tea with the breakfast, which they had forgotten was ordered.

Character Hotel in a great location, fantastic staff. Car parking on site. Visit most days for coffee and always made very welcome. Relaxed atmosphere and great place for dogs to visit as always made a fuss of by staff. Nice bar area to sit in. Also, the best coffee!

Great pub in the centre of Woodbridge. Staff are nice, food is great and the interior has been done to a high standard, creating an open and modern atmosphere - will definitely be going back.
