This is our favourite restaurant for special occasions and they never disappoint. Food and service were both excellent, a real treat.

My partner and I went to the Unruly Pig for their tasting menu on a Thursday night whilst on holiday in the area and it didn't disappoint at all. The staff were lovely and attentive, knowledgeable when we asked questions, really nice decour, and the food was absolutely divine. Would return any time, happily. I only had one drink as was designated driver and enjoyed a cocktail, but the accompanying wine menu seemed to go down well too. 10/10Vegetarian options: They had a whole tasting menu for vegetarians

Just excellent. Three of us complete with dog were given a very comfortable table in the bar, complete with water and biscuits all ready for the dog. The service from the young staff was faultless, as was the food. The best steak I think I have ever had. Not cheap, but excellence needs to be paid for.

Very attentive and friendly staff, a few seemed quite new but they were really trying their best and were lovely. Delicious food and great value on a Thursday tasting evening. The scallops were divine.Vegetarian options: Great tasting menu and other options availableWheelchair accessibility: There is a disabled loo as you go in at the entrance on ground level and no steps to the tables downstairs.

We chose the Thursday night Tasting Menu offer. Excellent service. We don't drink alcohol and some places can make you feel like you’re something that lives under a stone - presumably because that's where money is made. But not this place. The staff were friendly and there was clearly a camaraderie amongst them all. They dealt well with a happy but fussy nearby table very well. The food was excellent. Small portions- but it's a tasting menu, so what do you expect. Some of the dishes were very special, the tomato course being my favourite - and l'm not that fond of tomatoes! The mini panne cotta with fruit was really good. None of it was too rich or too creamy and that allowed the flavours of the ingredients to shine. My one comment - and I’ve seen it mentioned elsewhere is the chunkiness and size of the tea & coffee cups. They just jarred with the whole tasting menu vibe. Get yourselves something more delicate for the dinner service. We'll be back.

We don’t understand why this “gastro-pub” gets such rave reviews. The pricing is astronomical, the food is good but over-rich and very unbalanced. The service is very good. The ambience is pub; the prices are Mich*. In more detail: We went on the recommendation of friends, who described it as expensive but very good. They were half-right. The carte is very limited, usually a good sign but the dishes are all a bit too unusual mixtures and most didn’t appeal. We both ended up with the same scallop starter and sirloin main. £18 for one raw scallop, thinly sliced and over-powered by the sauce. £37 for a large piece of sirloin, some of which was a bit gristly, with what were described as “Parmesan chips”, actually layered potato slices, cut into chunks like huge chips, and swamped with grated raw Parmesan. And a bone marrow sauce and half an onion. No veg (unless you count the onion). Rich rich rich. We couldn’t face dessert. Coffees were good, but a double-espresso served in a large mug isn’t right. The little things were noticeable by their absence. No tablecloth. No nibbles with our drinks (unless ordered and paid for). No bread (ditto). (2 slices of focaccia = £4). Small glass of white wine £12.50. Large glass of a French Malbec VdeP £17. Bill for 2 people was £155 for 2 courses with 2 small beers, 1 large, 1 small wine, ex coffee (gratis ‘cos we were asked why we didn’t finish mains, too rich, apologetic, offered free desserts, so brownie points for the correct response there.) Ambience is noisy pub, not quiet dining. We were unfortunate in having a loud but hardly rowdy table of 4 30-somethings next to us - they weren’t objectionable, it’s just that the acoustics made it loud not relaxing. All in all, we write it off to experience. Have been aware of this place for a while, thought we’d try it, but it wasn’t for us. We won’t be back. Others seem to think it is great. If you’ve never been to France, you may agree.

We had a nice time at the Unruly Pig during our Monday, 28th visit. The ambiance and company undoubtedly added to our enjoyment, with the atmosphere and companionship enhancing our experience more than the culinary journey itself. I must clarify that the food was indeed delightful, but I can't help but feel it fell slightly short given the price point. Consider our initial course of scallops, for instance; it appeared to be a single scallop, meticulously sliced into five portions. The flavours were undeniably exquisite, but unfortunately, the quantity left much to be desired. This observation set the tone for our expectations, as my partner pointed it out right away. Moving on to the main courses, they were truly divine; however, the portion sizes once again seemed inadequate relative to the cost incurred. It's worth noting that some of the waiting staff exhibited signs of nervousness and hesitancy, despite their accommodating and friendly nature. One staff member candidly admitted, "Sorry, I am a bit nervous," this honesty was appreciated. However, the serving staff seemed either disinterested or lacking experience. This contrast between the service and the culinary standard was somewhat disappointing and detracted from our overall dining experience. Since our visit, I've shared my experience with several acquaintances, often describing it as "pleasant with great company, though not compelling enough for a return visit." Despite the considerable hype, accolades, and reputation of the Unruly Pig, it seems to cater primarily to a specific clientele. Regrettably, this might unintentionally exclude more adventurous diners interested in visiting but dissuaded by the premium pricing. It's important to acknowledge the noticeable gap between the restaurant's allure and accessibility, particularly for those mindful of their budget. On a positive note, I applaud the restaurant's efforts to provide more affordable options, such as their presumably discounted offerings on Thursdays. This demonstrates a commendable willingness to cater to a wider range of patrons. Given the favourable taste of the food, this could indeed be an appealing choice for future visits. In summary, the offered dishes were undoubtedly appetizing and of commendable quality, yet the portion sizes left us wanting. Unfortunately, the service performance didn't quite match the exceptional standard of the cuisine. Moreover, receiving a bill of £130 for two people felt steep considering the quantity of food served, irrespective of its quality.

Great food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. The staff impressed us the most. So welcoming, so attentive and so great at their jobs. The food was very tasty but it was more the sauces that where delicious rather than the ingredients if that makes sense. The tomatos didn't have much flavour at all and the beans used on the veggie dish had no flavour so that was a shame. My partner had the skate and said it was very nice. We wasn't that impressed with our deserts especially my partners it was swimming in liquid as shown in photos.

Truly exceptional and imaginative cuisine, the talent of the Unruly Pig chefs’ is incredible. What elevates the Unruly Pig even further to being genuinely the best restaurant I have ever been to is the exceptionally friendly and attentive owner and staff, as welI as an intelligently stylish and warming setting.5 Stars ⭐️ and a must visit!

Superb three course lunch and, for the quality of the food, good value. Ours came out at around £105 for two, with some extra veg but exc. drinks and tip. Excellent food and good service. Will happily go again as a monthly treat.

Very bad. Came here with friends expecting a lot and was very dissapointed ended spending almost 200£ a head and left feeling like id been robbed. Service totally mediocre and food truly bang average. Staff were nice but untrained and food was poorly seasoned and unimaginiative. Could not recommend against this resteraunt enough. The Chefs it seemed had never encountered salt as an ingrediant and all food was criminally under seasoned. Decent wine and 1 very nice scallop course. Otherwise please avoide like the plague. Terrible value for money.

It had been a while since we had been and we were delighted to find that it was as good as ever! Superb food - the mushroom ravioli was divine - and we were very well looked after by the front-of-house team.

Incredible food, wine and service at the @unrulypig today (Sunday). This was my first time and it didn't disappoint ❤️. If you've not had this pleasure in your life then what have you been doing??? Get a table booked there immediately. So many things blew my mind today at the table... How the chef has made tomatoes taste as delicious as this, as the beautiful ones I had with my tortellono, I do not know ?.The oxtail stuffed Yorkshire was out of this world, along with the fillet beef that banged and the greens that sang. The wine was simply delightful too.Highly rated. This place ought to have a star. Michelin need to reassess this beautiful experience.#suffolkfoodie #woodbridge #incrediblefood #fooddoesntgetmuchbetter #amazingfood

After seeing how highly rated this gastropub is and recommendations from a couple of leading chefs, I decided it was time to try the restaurant with my wife. We were not disappointed. Tables are nicely spaced out. The staff knowledgeable, friendly and a pleasure to have looking after you. Above all, the food is exceptional. This restaurant deserves all the accolades it has received. What I do not understand though is why Michelin have been totally remiss and not awarded it and the highly talented team of chefs a star. I expect that this omission will be corrected in 2024.
