A lovely hotel in a nice location. You feel like you are out in the countryside. Really good food and friendly staff. The only slight criticism is I couldn't find the prices on the menu initially until after I had the receipt the first night and got a shock when the bill said £75 of extras. I was on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast break, so didn't expect such a large figure for extras. I eventually found the prices are on the menu, but they just had a number after a / but no £ sign. Eg, Lamb / 24. Anyone looking at that thinks "What is that number"? Is it a price or some other serial number? A bit misleading. Therefore one polite tip I would give the hotel staff is add the £ sign to the figures on the menu.Rooms: Lovingly furnished and spacious rooms with nice mahogany furniture and bathroom is grand. Stylish tiling. Even the small touches like beautiful glasses and glass jug in the room. Looked like Royal Albert glasses. The whole building has lovely period features. Hallway has a grand staircase with period ballestrade. The health club has a lovely pool for swimming and they even do aqua aerobics classes there.Food & drinks: Food was first class. Very nice.

Myself and a friend just stayed at this hotel. We went with the bed, breakfast, spa and dinner package. Before going I was quite apprehensive due to some of the mixed reviews I had seen but we weren’t let down by any part of our experience. Yes the spa facilities are quite small but we went on a Sunday night and we had no problem gaining access to anything. Our room was a good size and the room had everything you would need. The beds were so comfortable and the room itself smelt so clean and the black out curtains made for an excellent nights sleep. The drinks are on the expensive side but that’s to be expected. The bartender, very sadly can’t remember his name, was amazing! Really friendly and so bubbly. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was really good, again much better than we had expected. I had steak that was cooked to absolute perfection. We also had breakfast in the morning which again was of amazing quality. One of the best buffet breakfasts I have had in a hotel in a long time, food all seemed very freshly cooked. Our package included a massage in the morning which again was above expectations. The ladies really know what they’re doing, it was so relaxing but also helped massively with some issues I have with my back. This was a very overdue weekend away for us and we are so grateful that everything was so good.

Wonderful afternoon Tea for a family birthday celebration in the restaurant. The sandwiches and cake were really good, and so was the service. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you to Jack who looked after us so well.

Upgraded to a suite for the duration of our stay.. on arrival myself and my partner were very disappointed with the misleading photos on the websites of the suite, we requested to be moved to another suite where the Manager was very kind and helpful. The room we upgraded to was much nicer and couldn’t understand how the original room (201) was worth the same status as room 302!The restaurant is in dire need of an update and most, if not all, of the chairs had rips in the fabric with stuffing coming out of them. The menu was very limited and over priced.I emailed the hotel and spa asking for confirmation of the massage prices as we had a £75 gift card and was charged £194 afterwards. My partner had a 55 minute freestyle men’s massage which is listed as £89 and I had the macdonalds signature treatment £139. Therefore, this should have come to £228 and with the £75 gift card remaining payment should have been £153. My partners masseuse was ill and continuously sniffled throughout his massage which was not relaxing.Just a very disappointing stay and treatment. Not worth the money! Will not be recommending this hotel chain to anyone. Poor customer service as my query has not been replied to. Emails were sent on the 1st and 2nd of March. No response still 12/03/24.

The food was disappointing.I was served roat potatoes which where hard in the middle. When I complained they took them away and returned with smaller bits of potatoes which were also undercooked. ? ???

We booked a spa session with tea, for the afternoon. Spa facilities are nice but on a smaller scale, which I did not realize from the website photos. There's a steam sauna, a Swedish hot sauna and a swimming pool. It does look like they are better prepared in regards to massage services. The tea service did let them down. We had to wait for 20 or more minutes for someone to appear to acknowledge our arrival. Ten minutes later, when they bought the tea for two, we asked for a lactose free tea option for one menu and it was not prepared! They did apologise, and admitted it was documented in the booking form and confirmed on arrival at the spa but that was another delay added, so our tea lasted longer than expected.I do appreciate that the tea, cake and scones selection was amazing. Thank you!

Beautiful old stately home. Well maintained with many original featuresI only stayed for one night and it cost me less than Premier Inn, so I was happy to get such lovely surroundings and friendly personal. It brightened up my business trip. Thank you

Booked the afternoon escape, spa treatment and afternoon tea here for mum's birthday. Guys at the spa reception were helpful and friendly and Suraya who did my massage was so lovely, calming and puts you at ease. The tea afterwards was very tasty and filling, great afternoon all

This is not 4 star!!Visited this place with a friend for a girlie weekend away and first impression was that it was great but unfortunately our views did not stay this way.We were slightly earlier than our check in time so made our way to the spa. The spa manager was very welcoming however, we were extremely under whelmed with the spa, the stained/ tired robes provided and the length of the treatment in our package. We were handed robes and slippers to use during our stay. The robe was stained and very tired looking and all were of similar appearance. The slippers were new but beware when walking around the spa as these can be slippy due to the lack of drainage which has resulted in very wet flooring. The spa is very small with limited facilities. The environment of the spa was also not very clean. In the spa area there is complimentary water but these were all empty on arrival and the previous customers had left their empty cups around. Due to the small size of the spa there is limited seating which means you are not guaranteed a seat let alone a lounger. At 4pm children also are able to access the spa so I wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful break. Our treatments were booked for 5pm which were meant to be 25 minute in duration but this includes your consultation, getting undressed, the treatment, and then getting dressed again, so I would say that the actual treatment time is around 15 minutes which is disappointing. The rooms are very small and basic and to make things worse I was unable to sleep due to the room being too hot.Breakfast was also disappointing with the hot food being limited and barely warm. We left hungry and going else where to eat.Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend due to the high price and low standard of offering.

My mother and I chose to stay here overnight due to an appointment locally the following day. Beautiful building and our rooms were perfect for us, generous in size (Mum had an accessible room) with good sized bathrooms. Good room amenities, little fridge an unexpected bonus. Beds amazingly comfortable!! Staff are fab, and super helpful, reception staff professional and efficient, and the girl behind the bar was charming and knowledgeable. We were room only basis so can't comment on food offerings. I also had 2 dogs in tow, supplement of £15 each, which seems to be the norm nowadays. Just to mention to those travelling with dogs, please know you'll also be asked for a £100 deposit on check in, (refundable, in case of incident) and my understanding was they are not allowed in any of the public areas. Absolutely no issue with their policy, but it's not immediately obvious on booking. Looking forward to returning in May and thank you for a relaxing stay.
