Flying Sunbeds

Only person there. Typical drinking pub. Needs some flare. Expensive beer.

Great Pub. We stayed the night in the B and B, and also had dinner and drinks at the pub. The food was excellent and the staff were all really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also good a good selection of lagers. He had a really good time. Thanks for the stay

Could do with some hot water in shower and hand basin, could do with some blinds that block out the sunWalkability: Easy walking to the high street

Lovely rooms above a pub (which is quiet!). Super friendly staff, let us keep our bikes in the room. easy check in and out. In the perfect location for a cyclist dream! Highly recommend.

A difficult experience. Room was fine/nice and the welcome was very pleasant. Despite some wallpaper falling off - though this may be due to the heatThe evening sleep was ruined by the heat (no fan) but mostly the local people, who were leaving the pub (below the rooms) who proceeded to have a fight/altercation/argument from 12am until, the final individual left at 3am.Some efforts were clearly made to remove the individuals from the premises but little was done to clear them from the doorway of the premises (which was under our window) for the next 2 or so hours.A lot of swearing and threats from the customers below. No apology given the next day from staff - though these were different from the welcome staff.

Clean and well appointed room. Parking tricky and noisy. Comfortable bed. No instructions so have to figure out everything yourself. TV looked promising and couldn't figure that out which was annoying. No breakfast. Convenient location.

we only had a pub lunch. The all day breakfast was disappointing. thick hard bacon, very strange sausage (vegetarian?) watery baked beans. (nice eggs) was not good. The scampi and chips more like soft chicken nuggets with a fishy taste. the chips were over-salted skinny fries, and a large portion of frozen peas which were quite hard.

Stayed here on a Saturday with a relatively short notice (element of desperation) booking having had Airbnb cancelled my reservation for another venue. The building throughout, including our room, was a little shabby and needs updating. The only parking available is on street and "luck of the draw". Our on suite room faced onto the main road and was not double glazed. Had to find another venue to eat as the Chef was off and the restaurant was closed. On the plus side, the staff we had contact with were friendly and we did enjoy the - extra cost - breakfast.

On the tail of the recent storms, although frustratingly after the winds had died down we found ourselves yet again without power at 11pm last Wednesday. The next day dawned and the updates from UK Power Networks were not encouraging, and by late afternoon it was clear that we were going to spend another night in the cold and dark. The attractions of a warm shower and a hot meal were too much to ignore, so we hit Tripadvisor to seek out a local hostelry with a room for the night. After a quick check with the management a very pleasant young lady (Eloise as it turned out) confirmed B&B for £100 for the two of us and we headed over. We were greeted warmly and shown to a freshly refurbished room overlooking the street, comfy bed, clean sheets and towels, decent toiletries and an excellent hot shower. Freshened up we headed down to the bar for a drink and to peruse the menu. The bar was occupied with the usual post-work crowd, and although the menu, and the food we saw coming out, looked really good for a small town centre pub we ended up going elsewhere for dinner. Eloise (barmaid, waitress, general do-it-all) was excellent, but the vile language in front of her and my wife from the punters forced us out. They were truly disgusting, and how she kept her cool in the face of some of their comments I have no idea. Their mothers would be so proud..... When we returned later the pub had filled up as it was quiz night and we were cordially invited to join in part 2, just for fun. We had a couple more drinks to close the evening and headed off to a comfortable and warm night's sleep, followed by an absolutely delicious cooked breakfast the next day. Overall a good experience, with a decent room, excellent service and food (albeit just breakfast in the end) and 5 star + service from Eloise.
