I tried most Chinese restaurants in Epsom and this one has become my one and only favourite. Always piping hot food, still crispy when it gets to you, perfectly flavored and always deliver on time or a little earlier even at peak hours (Friday night.) The portions are also very generous and prices are very good. If you're not sure what to get, I recommend the crispy beef chilli or sweet & sour chicken hong kong style if you're afraid of spice, but if you don't mind a little warmth do try the szechuan chicken, it is seriously delicious. Savory and hot with generous chunks of vegetables and chicken steeped in the szechuan sauce. With egg fried rice it's my favourite dish.

Having been a regular customer for over 5 yearsWe have experienced good and bad service. However our last takeaway order which was over £70Had Moore hair in than a hairdressers floor. We phoned to say all of our food was contaminated with human black hair in every single container. And we was told ‘ oh sorry next time we give you somthing free.Which I said no thank youCould you please collect all and refund pleaseThen she just put the phone down on me.No refund was givenAnd they seem to have bloked our phone numberI don’t think this represents good customer service to a family who have been ordering a takeaway from this restaurant for over 5 yearsAnd we normally spend between £50 - £85 with them weekly.

I ordered food via just eat. The food delivery was early and it wasnt all warm. Some was cold. Very good portion sizes. This is the first time we have used this Chinese and won’t be using it again. The delivery driver couldn’t find out and put the phone down on me. I couldn’t understand them and they were rude. The lemon chicken had no sauce like you would expect and was covered in lemon peel. It was very dry, the rice had zero flavour. The veg curry had loads of bean sprouts and the crispy seaweed was cold and mushy. I didn’t like it at all. The chips were cold and the food was bland and tasteless. This is our first and last time using this Chinese. We will go back to our regular I think. We just wanted to give somewhere else a chance for a change. Not worth the money you pay for it. Terrible terrible terrible avoid at all costs. The delivery drivers need training in customer service. They are the front for the business and they are beyond rude. We live 10 mins away from this restaurant and they couldn’t find us. I think the drivers need to use sat nav.

I’ve just ordered for the first time here after trying to many others. And I can say that this is the best Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had . Very friendly customer service and great food.

Food was bland. Had to add salt, pepper and soy sauce to everything. The satay was too oily. Chilli beef wasn’t spicy. First and last time ordering from here

Been a loyal customer for two years. Tonight I get ripped off. They supply takeaway dishes and two of the containers were less than two thirds full, the other, less than half full. I am a good customer so I rang up expecting the woman to apologise and put it right. But no. She shouted at me "costs have gone up" ...so that's alright thins it, charge the same price and half fill the container?? Then they hang up on me, twice. Unbelievable. AVOID. CHOOSE ANOPTHER CHINESE..!

Our favourite Chinese restaurant in Wimbledon we’ve been going to for about 28 years is closing and we were frantically looking for a replacement. We must have tried all of the Chinese restaurants in Epsom and had always been disappointed. We had often passed the Great Wall in Epsom’s East Street but it never looked particularly impressive from the outside so we’d always avoided it. Out of desperation, we gave it a go last night and we’re so glad we did. It’s takeaway or delivery only and we ordered via Just Eat. I generally judge a Chinese restaurant by the Szechuan Chicken and it was superb and full of flavour with very tender chicken. We had ribs and chicken satay to start and for mains, we had chicken in black bean sauce (x2), the Szechuan chicken and sweet and sour chicken balls plus two egg fried rice and one mixed veg. It arrived earlier than expected and everything was piping hot and full of flavour although I’m not sure I’d order the chicken satay again. It was nice and perfectly edible but just not quite as I’d expected it to be with the sauce being a bit gloopy. The ribs were very generous though - more than enough for 2 people and just yummy. Delivery was £1.50 plus a 50p service charge for using a credit card and the total bill was £48. We couldn’t finish all of it so had the rest for breakfast today and it was even nicer, as is often the case! We’re so pleased we’ve found a local replacement and will be delighted to recommend the Great Wall to everyone.

The Great Orient seems to be like the Great Wall of China. Indestructible! In an ever more competitive restaurant scene in Epsom, which has seen even some chains like Pizza Piazza and Si close recently, Great Orient soldiers on somehow. This is despite serving a very limited menu of fairly average Chinese food. Over the years, they've tried various ideas such as a buffet and set meals but the food has been adequate rather than inspiring. Actually, coming to think about it, Epsom has a few Thai restaurants but no Chinese places. Perhaps that is what has allowed Great Orient to be indestructible to date.
