“I don’t usually write reviews, but Major Plaice was too good not to. So, I popped in last Friday after hearing some good things, and I gotta say, it lived up to the hype. I had the cod and chips, and honestly, the fish was bang on. Perfectly cooked, lovely white flakes, and the batter was crispy without being greasy.

The chips were proper chippy chips, too. None of those skinny fries, but chunky ones that were fluffy inside and golden outside. I splashed out on some curry sauce as well, and it was decent – not too watery, which is always a bonus.

It was pretty busy when I went, but the staff were still friendly and efficient. You could tell they were working hard. All in all, a solid chippy experience. If you're after a good, honest plate of fish and chips, Major Plaice is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back!”
