I’ll arguably one of the best Chinese restaurants in the whole of Southwest

What’s happened to our favourite Chinese? Hadn’t been for ages and drove to the Wimbledon branch which turned out to be temporarily closed. We then drove to the Esher branch … already shocked to find it was £70 for 2 .. even more expensive than it used to be but the real shock was when we got home. The crispy squid used to be large flat pieces is now small bits of squid and the batter and taste just nowhere near as good. The dragon whisker prawns.. used to be 3 … now just 2. Pork balls and crispy beef were a poor imitation of what we used to have. Has the company been taken over? It’s like they’ve put up the prices and lowered the quality of the meat! Gutted! We were SO looking forward to it…

Best Chinese food we have ever tasted. Nice atmosphere with a friendly and competent service. We will definitely be back.

I went twice in person, in advance, to book a table and check booking, to ensure my birthday celebration would be special. On the day I was told the table I had booked was not available and was given another one by the front entrance door, on its own, away from the rest of the restaurant! The waitress insisted that we had to sit there and it was 4 degrees, so extremely cold every time the front entrance was used. The restaurant was busy so the entrance was used frequently. I had to complain several times and was told ‘not to stress’ before we were moved to a corner with peeling paint. Don’t worry if you are white you will be prioritised. I feel very disappointed as this was a special occasion and ruined by the way we were treated. We have come on several occasions in the past and been loyal to Good Earth , recommending it to family and friends. Shame on certain members of your staff ‘Good Earth’

Amazing ambience. Food was great. We went for the set menu and the spread was lovely.Definitely worth going.

Have been to the Good Earth a few times and have been very impressed with the food and service. Tonight the service was excellent as usual but the main dishes were average. It had Kung Po Prawn which was ‘nice’ but the Chicken in Cashews was horrendous. It has actually made me feel quite ill. The chicken was fatty with large pieces of yellow flabby fat. The chicken was thigh meat and inedible. I was not charged for the dish and was asked if I wanted a different main but I couldn’t eat anything after that. For £25+ for this particular dish I would have expected a lot more than fatty chicken. Everything else including the starters were great. But I can’t get past the chicken.

TAKE AWAY - BE CAREFUL Be carful as there are two take away menu prices, one being a take away collected from the restaurant and the other from a take away shop. On my order which was for 4 people collected from the restaurant it cost £147.50 but if the person taking the ordered had directed me to the take away shop of Good Earth it would have only been £98.40 that being £49.00 cheaper.

No doubt it’s the finest Chinese food I’ve had anywhere. Clean, fresh, flavoursome, faultless it’s annoyingly good ! Happy to pay more for that quality. Service first class

I had not been to this restaurant for many years. One always wonders as one gets older whether it will be the same as it was before. I was not disappointed as the service was very good the food was excellent. We celebrated my daughter’s wedding anniversary and we chose the set menu. This appeared to be expensive, but as a result of the quantity, and excellence of the dishes appeared to be value for money. We chose the New Zealand, Sauvignon Blanc. Over 40 years ago I used to visit the one, just off the M1 and the Knightsbridge restaurants. Nothing had changed since then. Thoroughly recommended for a special occasion.

Very poor service, visited for my wife's birthday with a newborn. When we entered we got a dirty cold look because of the pram so they sat us in a corner by the door. Asked to be moved and they refused even though there was a round table which was empty. The baby was asleep but if they don't want families they should make the restaurant adults only rather than ruining a customers evening. Won't be returning but to be honest the service is so bad they won't even care.

The tastiest and best quality Cantonese food I have ever eaten. Highly recommended! Not cheap, however the food is excellent. The set meal is superb. We didn’t leave a thing!

Service and food were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble but the food is very, very expensive. I had tap water ( I was driving ) a squid starter and only Singapore noodles for a main course and it came to just shy of £30. Service is added automatically which I don't like.

We know Good Earth since we live locally. Saturday night, 8.15 and we had not booked. Walking past, we could see half the tables were empty. We stepped in and asked the manager if there any chance for a table. He was more than kurt and rudely “barked” that they were fully booked. At that time it was clearly not full and he wanted to finish early! No problem, could we order take aways! After 10 minutes of no service we left and had a great meal up the road. Don’t bother. Awful management that is paralysing the staff.
