Had a meal with 2 friends on Saturday night for a friends 30th. I asked the staff if they could bring something out with a candle and all the staff came over and sang happy birthday. The food was out of this world! Absolutely mouthwatering delicious. I can’t find fault in anything that we ordered! We shared vine leaves, moussaka and cheese in filo pastry to start. For our main lamb chops, the cod and mine was the king prawns. Every mouthful was delicious. Added bonus was the Dj afterwards. It was an expensive night but we did have 2 bottles of wine and some cocktails.

I went with my daughter and son in law for my birthday lunch . The booking procedure was really good and you get a reminder which was really helpful A really nice table in the bar area and though it was a Monday there was a really good buzz about the place which is always a good sign Really friendly staff and the manager on hand to help with a choice of wine Food was excellent and the service could not be faulted. Really lucky having such a place on the doorstep. I love the historical connections which still survive in the atmosphere Thoroughly recommend.

Since the beginning of my long weekend (retirement) I've visited lots of pubs on a fairly random basis. I visited the Griffin for a couple of hours on Wednesday.I can't remember the last time I've been in a pub with a saloon bar and a public bar. I was in the saloon bar, but would like to believe (though without confidence) that prices in the public bar were cheaper.Went in as the lunchtime food was finishing and it quickly went from being packed to being empty, though the public bar remained lively.Overall, service was good, beer was very good. First impression, a good pub.

Arrived at the bear for an overnight stay, was welcomed by a met of staff (tall guy with a long beard) who could not have been more helpful to ease our hotel introduction.We were more than impressed by the room and quality of furnishings, this is definitely a pub/hotel we will be staying at again, again and again. I just had to write and share how lovely my meal was last night. Although very busy at 6pm on a Friday night with a full booking of the restaurant for a function, we were give a warm welcome by bar staff and customers. The menu wasn’t huge but offered a good range of choices . As a vegetarian I had the choice of two very different mains and I chose the (V) Oven Baked Aubergine Salad – couscous, ratatouille, halloumi, tomato, Rocket oil, pickle slaw salad - £15.00 and it was gorgeous, cooked to perfection and the perfect meal for a cold winters night. So often the vegetarian option is an after thought on pub menus, put there to tick a box but this was truly delicious and they knew how to cook halloumi ! My friend also thoroughly enjoyed her fish and chips. I just wish I’d had room for a pudding as I later heard from some others that they’d loved theirs.

My grandma and I come here often and are always welcomed with extremely friendly staff every time. The food here is also very DELICIOUS! - and the Thai Tea is a must! Always a good atmosphere - the place is filled with cyclists on a mid ride coffee stop and there's always some sort of cycling race being shown on the TV on the wall. You can also stock up here on essentials (inner tubes, chain lube and gels), and they provide zip tie locks for your bikes for when you're inside.
