Food & drinks: A broad choice on the menu but in reality the food fell short when being served. Quality and quantity was lacking considering the cost of the meals. Look else before committing to this restaurant.

Very disappointing meal out. Food was ok, but nothing special (chicken was overcooked parsnips were undercooked) and very expensive for what it was. We asked for glasses of milk for the kids, and were brought hot babyccinos instead. The kids had asked for beef burgers, and after a 40 minute wait they were brought plates of roast beef (which hadn't even been on the children's menu). After another 10 mins or so they were finally brought one beef burger, and we had to wait a few more minutes for the other one. No apology, no explanation of what had happened, and when the bill arrived they'd already added a 12.5% service charge. Safe to say we won't be trying The Squirrel again any time soon.

Currently staying here whilst visit family nearby over Christmas. The room is nice and clean BUT TV doesn't work, no coat hangers, no tea bags only peppermint and also nowhere to hang the bathroom towel. I spoke to someone about the TV and coathangers but nothing done, also spoke to someone else about the tea bags, again nothing done and obviously no one had been in my room to replenish supplies. Nice room but poor on the day to day things. These are all part of what is paid for so should be available. It wouldn't prevent me staying again but I would check everything first. Also no WiFi details in the room so couldn't use my tablet to watch TV.Rooms: Said it all above.

Wanted to try as now run by same people as Heavens Kitchen in Farnham. Heavens Kitchen separately has been a great experience each time been. The Squirrel sadly was not. We ended up going for the 2 course for £15 menu. Which understand is not much. Was the best option available though. Starters were fine. Prawn cocktail and calamari. Main courses of fish and chips which was Harvester quality at best. Chilli nachos though was 1 out of 5 stars being generous. Really sad but first time and last time visit. Just one customer suggestion but invest and create a Heavens Kitchen out of Squirrel and we will absolutely visit again and again.

Ate there last night with my wife using a GroupOn voucher against their set menu.It was quiet as early, around 5:30pm. Waiting staff were great and attentive and the food was really good, nothing was left and it was delivered promptly and hot. I had squid and chilli sauce, which was very punchy followed by the chicken schnitzel and Treacle pudding.Couldn't fault any of it.

Nice Sunday lunch but a bit on the small side, our side orders arrived after we had finished our roast which was a bit disappointing. Food overall was good, service was good and atmosphere good. Not 5 stars because of repeated wrong food delivered to our table, late delivery of side orders for main meal and all the dogs in the pub.We will go back though, before today we’ve had better experiences there.

Disappointing, I had the Sunday roast with steak and was expecting a nice sirloin steak as stated on the menu. I was asked how I wanted it and I said medium rare got two small strips of dried out meat. My wife ordered the calf liver and was reasonably better. Don't get the steak option as it's not steak as advertised, it's a couple of measly strips of roast beef.Service was friendly and fine, food subpar.

Had our work Christmas party there. The staff were friendly, warm and efficient. The food was amazing and the service was perfect. We’ve had our last four Christmas parties at The Squirrel because they never disappoint and always deliver.

I’ve been going to the squirrel Inn for the last couple years and I must say over the last couple months its progress has been AMAZING. I never write reviews but this place seriously deserves the credit! The new staff over the past couple months are incredible and lots of the younger team are so approachable and chatty which is a great touch and not something easy to find nowadays and additionally one of the main guys in the black shirts who works at the bar is a great laugh and very efficient so I am never waiting long for a pint! The food is brilliant (kudos to the chefs) and I often enjoy a Sunday lunch at the pub, they have lots of different roasts and other food options too if roasts aren’t for you. Often Visited with friends who have kids who were totally satisfied by the kids menu which was very reasonably priced and had a great selection - especially if you have picky eaters! They have a play area out the back too which was a big hit for the kids. Absolutely recommend the Squirrel for a Sunday lunch or a drink at the bar they’ve surpassed all my expectations!

Scrolling through groupon today, I saw a deal at this pub for a 3 course set menu at £30 for 2 people. Having not been yet, hubbie and I decided to try it out with the pooch in tow. I booked online prior to arrival and arrived in good time, as it's just off the A3. Initial impressions were very good. Lovely looking gastropub, in the countryside and plenty of parking. A warm welcome was waiting for us inside and we were quickly shown to our corner table and a bowl of water was provided straight away for the dog. Nice touch. The set menu is normally £33 each so it's a bargain to try out first on a place you havn't been to. I chose calamari with a nice sweet chilli dip, he had mushroom soup with warm bread, followed by Chicken Schnitzel fries & salad, whilst I went for the Steak Burger. Both the starters and mains were delicious! My steak burger was cooked to perfection, juicy and the chicken was (he said) well seasoned and a nice light batter. Dessert was treacle pudding with custard (or ice cream) and I had the New York cheesecake with cream. Again, dessert was absolutely scrumptious. Overall, I was very impressed with the near decor, welcoming staff, large outside decking area for the summer and a children's play area away from the main building so would not disturb other diners. This deal is on until the end of February so if you are thinking of trying a new pub, in an area you've never been to with great service and lovely food, this is it! (Oh, and 5 mins away is a lovely Farm Shop called Secretts - also worth a visit en route back! :)

i would like to make a compliant about one of your staff members i think she’s called danni,i came in on thursday night after work for a catch up with an old friend and saw her giving out free alcoholic drinks to a few lads who looked quite old,she whispered in one of there ears “don’t tell anyone” and then she walked back into the restaurant and all the boys left, she then proceeded to look shaken for the rest of her shift, this isn’t what a restraint should be doing, she looked under the age of 18 so by law is not meant to be working behind the bar,if this doesn’t get dealt with i’ll be taking it further myself,my daughter is a waitress at your pub and now feels unsafe,if this girl doesn’t get dealt with i will make a bigger complaint.

Great food at reasonable prices. Lovely staff. Just off the A3 so easy to get to but feels like it is more remote. Very confortsble surroundings. Thank you.
