This 300 year old pub is perfectly located on the Thames between Hammersmith and Chiswick with lovely views (esp. from the upstairs terrace / balcony) – perfect on a summer’s evening. The beer garden is a bit tired and not so nice – if you want beer garden walk 5 mins further up the Thames to the Black Lion – they’ve done a great job with their outside space (although no river views). They do a cracking Sunday lunch in their conservatory restaurant – makes sure to book. It’s really cosy in the winter. It’s very (read ‘too’) dog friendly which can be annoying for non-dog owners.

Great location spoiled by dry bread, bland chicken & ham pie, apple and rhubarb sausages which looked anaemic and lumpy mash. Disappointed.

I love this place. It has a very Old country American feeling to it on a non crowded day.On a sunny day, this place is packed and has a totally different feeling.Been here twice and loved it.

Get a table fast, as they go quick. Service is prompt and food is good pub food but not excellent.

Can't fault the fish and chips however the seating was very cramped due to the ongoing works and the restaurant area also being closed. The lack of space meant those who ate were nearly sitting on top of each other.I wouldn't have booked if I'd been pre-warned,as much as I've liked this pub for many years and still return sometimes despite moving away.

Mediocre food (we took the sirloin steaks which were more cooked than what we asked and not particularly tender). Service was terrible: the place was 1/3 full only yet the waitress was absent. She did not seem to know what to do. We had to call her to get the order taken (after more than half an hour wait), to have our plates clearer and get coffee. She never brought the bill so we had to pay on our way out… not a great experience overall and I do not recommend.
