A lovely village pub/restaurant with a friendly, pleasant atmosphere. The food was fresh and cooked well. Service was good and friendly.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. There is a separate vegan menu available but unfortunately no vegan option on the sunday roast menu. There were 3 vegan mains on the menu - a salad bowl, a curry and a burger. The salad bowl was sold out which the staff member was very apologwtic about. The curry tasted nice although lacked creaminess as it didn't have any coconut milk/cream in the sauce. We had 2 portions on our table and the vegetables served in each portion was wildly different. There were multiple desserts on the vegan menu (yay!) And the crumble was delicious.

I’m not sure if this restaurant has ever been good but I and my friends won’t be going there again we gave it another go but waited 35 minutes for soup when it came it was cold and to go back another 10 mins then the mains was very average but as we waited so long and told there was a large table of people that they had preference!!! You are a restaurant!!! When asked for the bill and said we were disappointed with food and service he gave us a one free cup of coffee!! Never again

Pleasant surroundings and attentive staff. Good food and quick service. Would visit again. Large car park and small outside area to sit in

Second visit to the Windmill. Only popped in for a drink but ended up having some snacks which were delicious. The staff were very welcoming. Lovely location, the sun was out (well a bit) what more could you want! Back again soon!

Do not book your Christmas dinner here! We made this mistake last year and it was AWFUL! We had to try and find humour in the situation so our entire Christmas Day wasn’t ruined but it was truly terrible. The bar was a mess and full of dirty glasses when we arrived, we stood there for ages and asked two staff members where our table was, only to be put on a dirty table with no crackers. The amuse bouche must have run out so they brought us falafel, starters were cold, meats were dry and over cooked, the only decent thing were puddings but by then.. we had had enough. We had to go to the bar as we had no table service- a poor man from the kitchen was trying to help out, the head waiter was injured and clearly unwell. There was also no Prosecco or chapel down as advertised. The decor was also poor- dead plant in the bathroom, stains all over the walls and cobwebs in the windows, as though they did not have notice that Christmas day would be happening. Unless there has been serious changes and work done to the building, this place is disgusting for charging the same prices on the Christmas menu again this year.

Overall a great experience. The food was lovely and the light batter to the fish and chips was a welcomed surprise. The peas were also delightful. The chips were ever so slightly not crispy but still all delicious as a dish. The cider on tap was obviously kept well as was perfect. The only minor (in bold) details would be the slight price to food quality on the other guests dishes and also a few more smiles from the staff. Even though the efficiency and professionalism was there, a little smile could go a long way.I would strongly recommend a visit here and the food is delicious (slightly overpriced). Certainly will visit again!!!!

Very disappointing visit, after ordering two bottles of wine, neither of which were available, I gave up and stayed with the water, my husband had a pint and this took 30 minutes to arrive. This could be because they were busy, but they weren’t, it’s was 2:30pm with one other table eating!! The excuse was that all the usual staff were at staff party. My advice if this is the case for the slow service and lack of wine on the menu being available, maybe rethink opening!! We did just about make it to the starter which was also slow to come out. I ordered the Pan Fried King Prawns with Feta. Don’t be fooled the prawns had been frozen, are not king size and the feta consisted of 3 small cubes.. ohh and as for the chipotle chilli sauce this tasted like a can of tinned tomatoes. Sadly after an hour we gave up, paid the £27 which was for a pint, bottled water which I originally asked to be tap water and the sticky chicken starter (fyi the one at Ember inns is better ? ) Safe to say and sad that I won’t be going back for another try!!!

What a delightful place to celebrate my 30th birthday! ? The team were all very kind, quick and accommodating; the plant-based menu was varied and all the options we 3 vegans went for were delicious, and the place was buzzing even on a Tuesday eve. My family used to come here many decades ago when it was an old pub, and all said it's amazing how much it's changed and improved - in a very tasteful way! Thanks for a lovely eve, folks.

We met some friends here on my recommendation, but it’s been a while since I ate here and my memory clearly played tricks on me.The service and the place itself is warm and friendly, but the food was average at best.My roast beef was a terrible plate of food in all honesty. The beef was full of grizzle and quite tasteless. The Yorkshire pudding, again, tasteless. A pinch of salt would have raised most of this dish from poor to average. The biggest let down was the cauliflower cheese. Terrible!Ill call in again for drinks for sure, but I wouldn’t stop for food. My money is hard earned and I can do better than this at home, myself……

We were looking forward to our Sunday roast at the Windmill. I hadn’t visited there for 40 years as I’d moved out of the area. Today was a special treat with my dear old Mum and the on line menu looked very tempting. Duos and Trios of meats, a few fish and vegetarian options too. On arrival, I was slightly concerned about the lack of diners. It was barely half full. Perhaps the good folk of Windlesham arrive later and stay longer ? No matter, I mentally congratulated myself on being able to park and come early enough to beat the rush ! The young waiter looked about 16 and he quickly welcomed us and politely took our drinks order 5 minutes later. The drinks arrived in a few minutes and we waited for our single course luncheon. I’d chosen the duo roast beef (sirloin slice x 1 plus 8x3 cm piece of rib beef). Very nice. Sirloin slice was pink but cold. Potatoes & veg were hot so clearly it had been lying on a cold plate for a while. We were all hungry so hot gravy applied, I hoped for the best and ate my meat with the hot vegetables. Of course, after a minute or 2, all of the food was only tepid. Waiter had asked if we were happy 30 seconds after serving and then disappeared until we had eaten nearly all of it. Sometimes, you just can’t be bothered to complain and this felt that way, so I kept my mouth shut. Desserts sir ? No, thank you, just the bill. Was everything alright with your meal ? Well, now you mention it, we all found the food a bit cold. I’ll have a word with the Manager sir. He arrived back a few minutes later saying the manager would have a word with the Chef and they would knock £4 off our £80 bill. The PDQ machine asked how much tip we would like to leave 5, 10 , 15 or other percentage ? I chose other …. Entered nothing then left 10% cash tip for the waiter. It annoyed me that I was expected to tip after clearly being dissatisfied but that’s the corporate way these days I suppose. The decor was pleasant enough if a little bit worn and it clearly benefited from darker corners which would be quite romantic were we young romantics nurturing a love.

Popped in to The Windmill as we were in the area, not been in here before…. Nice pub, helpful and friendly staff. The beer is good, for lunch, we ordered two chicken burgers at £17.50 each, our meals were definitely not worth £17.50, the burgers were pretty standard. We’ve paid less elsewhere for a better quality burger to be honest, wouldn’t recommend the burgers here!
