Always a pleasure to dine at the stables. Their menu choice is amazing even as a vegetarian I can try things here that are not your general quiche or lasagne. The prices are reasonable both for food and drink.A special mention to the lovely staff as well. They make the pub special.Vegetarian options: Veggie sausage, mash and onion gravy.Veggie meatballs in tomato sauce with linguine.Battered halloumi, chips and mushy peas (amazing)Sandwiches etc...

went for sunday lunch. such a beautiful place inside and outside! when we first got there we were so confused about how to order/what the protocol was for food haha, another couple was also confused too it wasn’t just us! service was a bit slow, expected though because it was a busy sunday.food was great. one vegetarian option (bangers and mash) which came with loads of veg which was great. though when someone asked if the bangers and mash came with anything else like veg etc, the server said no, even though it did come with loads of veg?Vegetarian options: One Sunday lunch option

My partner called up at approximately 18:15 hours tonight and asked if there were any tables for the two of us plus our one year old child. We were told there were currently three tables and to head down.We arrived at 18:30 hours. My partner stood in the pub being ignored by numerous members of staff who were quite clearly avoiding eye contact at all costs.Other people were entering the pub and just helping themselves to tables. My partner finally managed to ask someone if there was a table for us to be told to find his own. Once table was found there were no chairs again told “Find your own”I don’t find this a very good service at all especially when we called up in advance and also had a one year with us.When you go out for a meal you expected to be waited on and receive a level of service given that you’re spending your money in the establishment. We will not be returning.(Of note - Similar experience about 1 month ago but gave the benefit of the doubt last time)
Was disappointed no food after 4pm when food was still was coming out.

Nothing less than perfect ⭐️ Four friends first visit for late lunch today. We were greeted with friendly staff and locals, food was fabulous, can recommend roast of the day, steak pie and prawns…5⭐️ lots of choice and served piping hot. A Little gem. Can’t wait to return. Thanks for an amazing afternoon ❤️

Well yet again, never disappointed with the food and the staff. It was rather busy which speaks for itself and the staff managed great. As for the review from Durham 396 how can you review a place without even entering, I’m sure you could have gotten your two seater broom parked somewhere.

Lunch today was amazing. From the starters of prawn cocktail to the Stilton and walnut pate , to the mains of turkey dinners for some, salmon for a couple and a nut roast for me. The service was impeccable ,and the waitress Nicki was absolutely excellent along with help from Rachael. Desserts were beautiful and all in all an excellent afternoon of excellent food and good company. Thankyou . We will be back.
