My partner and I ate here on Sunday. The Sunday lunch she had was exceptional and the steak I enjoyed was perfectly cooked.
Thanks to the staff who were first class. As we made a last minute booking the short wait was fine.

Penshaw Tandoori

Tasty food. Fish karai curry well cooked and seasoned. Would prefer larger portion however. Naans crispy and delicious. Onion Baaji was pretty good. Staff are really really friendly. Great service.

Coffee Connect shiney row

Tried today. Ordered hot beef dip was so big you had to eat with knife and fork. I ordered a panini with mozzarella usually theyre rubbish but this is hands down the best food ive had from a small chain cafe.

The Prospect Italian Bistro

We have visited several times. The Sunday dinners are very nice and extremely good value. We have always had lovely food and prompt service. The staff are also kind to our children which is lovely

Burn Inn

Only went into this pub because it was close to the Airbnb we were staying in. The first evening they had just had a kids party and were out of a lot of the food choices. However, they were very helpful and obliging and the food we had was delicious and excellent. It was so good that we had a late lunch there the very next day!

Costa Coffee

Great little costa coffee shop … fantastic service from the ladies here. My signature latte was slightly cold. However they were more than happy to make a fresh one.

Tasty House Chinese Takeaway and Delivery

My local chinese, who i had ordered food from for 8 years, gave me food poisoning so decided to try Tasy house. I had heard good things about them. I had the half crispy duck and it was amazing!!
Definitely ordering chines food from this place in future

Food was absolutely incredible and so much choice, portions were excellent sizes too.
Staff were really warm and really looked after us.
Beautiful setting the decor almost makes you feel like your in Thailand.

The Philadelphia

Since been taken over it offers great food at a great price. Lovely atmosphere along with a pool table a dart board bandits for when the weather is not so grand. When the sun is shining you can enjoy a drink in the beer garden and there is a play park area for the kids. Also this place is dog friendly which is a bonus for this area.

Spicy China - Shiney Row

We have been going to Spicy China for our Chinese food for about 8 years now. It is genuinely the best Chinese takeaway we’ve ever had. The service is always so fast, the food is so tasty and the staff are lovely too. We find the price so reasonable and we’ve never had a bad meal yet. We always buy chicken dishes and the chicken is so tender and the portions generous. We have recommended Spicy China to family who travel 20 minutes to pick theirs up they like it so much. Highly recommend!

The White Lion

Visited this morning whilst in Houghton and I wasn't disappointed I got the full English breakfast which was £7.95 and can honestly say it was fantastic . All good quality ingredients and cooked well . The rest of the menu represents great value for money aswell with an 8oz steak for around £15 thats a bargain . Looking forward to visiting again to try the main menu . The bar is also dog friendly which is a bonus

The best pizza in Sunderland if not in the U.K. Every time I go to Sunderland I must order from them as their pizza is so yummy I feel like I’m addicted to their pizza. I have always been served with respect and smile, never had any issue with them.

Absolutely lovely place to get food from, had curry, rice and chips and it was lovely , (don't usually have Indians). The staff aka "batman" is lovely and helpfull gives you first class service. I would highly recommend this place 100%.Still think they should do a tester pot deal so we know what things tast like .

Mighty Bite

Really good food at a bargain price, had a full English and a cuppa for £6.40, I had a few things taken off as I don’t like tomato mushrooms etc but normally comes with more than my picture.

The staff absolutely fantastic, very busy and could see they were abit stressed but they coped really well. Very polite and welcoming, two great staff members. Will defo be back.

Been ordering from Spicy Balti every Friday for the last 5/6 years, food is alway on time, hot and full of flavors.
The pizza’s they have started doing are really good, we have stopped using our local pizza shops.
Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Big portions for a great price. Very fresh vegetables. Nice and clean. Fast and friendly service. I am vegetarian and their vegetable chop suey is to die for. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Really enjoyed the pizza it was fresh and delicious we shared a 12 inch between four of us and it was enough,with salad and dips,we only wondered wheres the lovely vinegar thar use to be on the fresh salad,but i still would recommend it to anyone.

Rivaaj - Tradition Of Spice

Absolutely love this takeaway. Been twice and will always order from here for Indians. Korma was unreal and chicken tikka masala is unreal. Naan bread is lush too. It took about an hour for delivery but we don’t live in houghton so it’s understandable and worth the wait.

Had an amazing afternoon and night. Had a late lunch at 3pm few drinks then a local band came on. Ended up staying till 9pm on a Sunday night . Food was delicious service and staff fantastic. Will be returning

Absolutely blown away by our meal tonight! I ordered the seafood pasta and it was nothing short of incredible—perfectly cooked, packed with fresh, flavorful seafood, and coated in a rich, beautifully balanced sauce that tied everything together. Every bite tasted like it had been crafted with real care.

My partner went for the prawn and chicken pasta, and that dish was just as amazing!

The atmosphere, the presentation, and the quality of the food all came together to create a genuinely memorable dining experience. This place is an absolute must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Peach Garden Chinese Take Away

First time customer. Tried Cantonese meal for 2 people, the best Chinese takeaway food that I have had in years. Fabulous flavours, great quality ingredients and large portion size. Highly recommended.

Silver Grid

We tried The Silver Grid for the first time today, after just moving into the area. Really gorgeous fish and chips, and such a generous portion! The fish is cooked to order and has a beautiful flavour, the batter is light and crispy. Chips are perfect and plenty of them too! Our new favourite takeaway and would definitely recommend.

Grasswell Chippy

Moved to the area recently and tried Grasswell Chippy and I won't go anywhere else now. The portions are great, reasonable prices and the staff are so friendly.

A Lo Chop Suey House

We've been using A LO for around 50 years! Yes, 50 years. Regular, but not frequent visits, we love the place. It's changed hands, but Dear old Kevin the previous owner still does a few shifts on the counter, it's always good to see him. We even remember Kevin's dad when he was boss back in The seventies.The food is still good. Chow mein & curry are our favourites.

Gorgeous comfort food, delivered takeaway arrived within 45 mins, I asked for the pizza to be lightly done with extra mozzarella and they nailed it, we also had a chicken in cream pasta it was delicious and a huge portion, also home made chunky chips 10/10

Really glad I tried this place (if you had a website, I might have tried sooner, but it has always been busy anyway). Been 3 times and it has been consistent each time. I've always collected as soon as my order is ready. Mixed kebab is perfect for sharing with 2 breads and a big portion each. Everything is good quality, I especially like the kofta which is fresh and flavourful. They have optional roasted vegetables for the kebabs included that other places don't offer, and this works well. The price is spot on for what you get. Staff are welcoming. I definitely recommend ?

Not often an eatery is named after what they serve the food in, this place and my local chinese "Tin Foil Tray" are the exceptions. Decent enough scran, would recommend.
