Immaculate service, considered decor, exquisite food. Little pricier but every bite pays its way.

A fantastic dinner ?

I have been to this lovely restaurant twice and so my photos were from both of the visits. First time I came was back in 2021 and the second time was last Saturday. Both times we came for dinner so can't comment on their daytime menu.I was visiting my friend in Newcastle for the weekend and she recommended this place for us to try together as she had already been multiple times and had thought the food and overall experience was great. I know they were on the Michelin guide a few years in a roll so I was really looking forward to trying it out. My first time there was absolutely fantastic, great experience all the way from greeting at the reception to sitting down, ordering and paying. Staff members were very friendly and nice, took the time to explain the menu to us.On the first visit, we had the shrimp salad as a starter and then for mains we ordered the lamb chop with cous cous and mussels with a side of potatoes. The salad was refreshing and a great way to stimulate our appetites. The lamb was absolutely fantastic, so savoury and not gamey at all.Second visit we had the brown shrimp salad with blood orange which was once again super refreshing and stimulating. Mains we went with roast pork shoulder and braised is cheeks. The pork shoulder was absolutely delightful, crunchy crackling and tender meat. The apple sauce and potatoes were such a great complement to the meat and really pleasant. The ox cheeks were also soft and tender, particularly enjoyed the beetroot on the side with their dill pesto, so savoury. We enjoyed both but we agreed the pork was the highlight. For dessert we ordered the earl grey poached pear with chocolate and walnut ganache which was lovely. Such an interesting combination of flavours yet they somehow worked. That tea flavour coming through in your month balancing with the rich dark chocolate ganache made it so moreish and easy to eat. Absolutely not too sweet and it's just a light dessert to nicely wrap up our dinner. On both times we thoroughly enjoyed our visits there and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good restaurants in Newcastle. They change menus regularly so you can always get excited for what they will cook on the day. I am already looking forward to coming back one day!

Have been back and equally good the second time. Very interesting and tasty dishes and knowledgable staff.

Love this place for brunch, lunch or dinner. Really delicious and well thought out menu and the staff are so lovely and attentive (helping with the pram, giving us plenty of space and being so welcoming towards my toddler). Thank you for a lovely experience every time!

Really enjoyed the food and I was also pleasantly surprised by the varied drink options! As constructive criticism I would have appreciated a higher attention to detail with the tableware. Off the peg John Lewis plates and fairly standard quality cutlery let the food down. You guys are surrounded by at least 3 potteries within a 5min walk, it would be wonderful to celebrate local craft! All in all great experience.

It was my first visit. A quiet lunchtime. The place has a lovely feel. The staff are very friendly and on the ball. I wasn’t very impressed with the food. The menu promised a lot but one of BBC the two dishes I ordered didn’t deliver. A slow-cooked ragu was more like shredded beef bolognese on toast. Maybe that’s what it was supposed to be but it was quite disappointing for £11. I gave it 4/5 because I have a feeling that this place could have a lot to offer.

My brother and I got an early dinner here before a gig in the Cluny (2 minutes walk via the footbridge). Food was superb, excellent menu with lots of choice. And we had 2 great wines. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it.

Best service I've experienced 10/10. Food exceptional sooo delicious. The portion size was perfect for us, not too little that you felt like you hadn't had enough but at the same time we had 3 excellent courses and left without feeling we needed to roll out of the door.

Just really good food without the pretence, nothing to hide behind cooked and served by people who really care.

A late posting of a Saturday lunch from September. Have been previously for dinner and the lunch time service and quality was just as good. Informal and unpretentious in the most stylish way... Absolutely recommend if you are looking to eat in the ouseburn.

Been on a few occasions, and left full & delighted each time.

The service was really excellent, with very enjoyable family atmosphere. An interesting brunch menu but for me my view of the food is prejudiced by a dislike of the over-crisp bread/toast that it was served on, perhaps a personal taste.Parking: Normally fine on a Sunday with adjacent free car park but watch out for local events. Christmas Market at time of my visit made parking a bit challenging!
