The tomato soup to start with was (to my taste) delicious but it was downhill from there. Despite lots of empty tables in the "restaurant" there was a wait unless you ate in the bar area. I couldn't see the difference between the two so rather than waiting I chose the bar area. There is a difference however: in the latter you have to order, and pay at the bar which involves separate trips for drinks starters puddings etc., At the carvery "deck" "the carver" on my visit seemed miserable to be doing his job and was unwelcoming and unhelpful. To my taste the beef was underdone and very stringy and the vegetables cold. the gravy station was filthy. One of the servers at a nearby "restaurant table" seemed happy to be munching bits of food while serving customers. Wth three course and two glasses of ( a very nice Shiraz) the bill, for two, was around £60. It's years since I've been to a carvery and on this evidence, it will be many more!

We landed at Newcastle Airport at 1pm from a trip to Ireland. My daughter picked us up, and we came for a carvery lunch before travelling home to North Northumberland. The carvery was as good as always although we were unaware that an offer of half price main courses was current. Our waitress, Tracy, told us of the offer and gave me time to download the app to give me access to the voucher. Thank you Tracy, you were very kind and helpful. See you again soon.

Just visited Toby Kenton and enjoyed a carvery and a couple of drinks. I enjoyed the nice relaxed atmosphere and was sat nice and cosy near the fire. We received lovely service from Tracy who I found so welcoming, polite and prompt. Thank you for a lovely meal.

The place was clean, we got seated quickly, the waitress was lovely and made sure we knew what to do. Food was really nice except for the meat that day. Turkey was really watery and the beef was so fatty I had to leave it. Still enjoyed the rest of the food

Family 4 adults having carvery, all had different meats. Presentation on the hot plate looked delicious, the guy serving the meats was really helpful, happy & had great customer service skills with everyone! Food was hot, well seasoned & cooked superbly. Dauphinoise potatoes & Cauliflower cheese was amazing! Roasties were cooked well, lots of fresh vegetables to choose from, Yorkshire puddings & gravy were perfect! Lady who served our table was polite, efficient & seemed happy in her work. All round lovely afternoon which we all really enjoyed. Thank you!

A lovely dining place with affordable prices. You can have a main and unlimited side dishes in around £9 in normal days. Love the massive Yorkshire puddings.

We had what I would say a typical Toby lunch, my wife and I took my inlaws for lunch at 1pm we were greeted with a smile and and good afternoon, we were shown to our table and we all enjoyed a lovely lunch. Many thanks to the staff.

Mediocre at bestBooked breakfast for 16 people at 10 a.m.arrived ,got seated then went to the servery to find majority of the food on the hot plate was dried up, it had been clearly sat for some time & no eggs! , chef appeared from kitchen and this was mentioned and he muttered something as he walked away!! without refilling the hot plate, the chef seemed extremely surly, not who you want interacting with the customers. As for the coffee this was tepid at bestSecond time we have been here but absolutely the last

The customer service was fantastic... food was really impressive. Really enjoyed our Christmas day experience.

Not good I'm afraid. The food was largely cold by the time it arrived, and the taste and texture of the potatoes and veg were quite poor regardless. They attempt at some vegan options but they could be better, and far more vegan options are needed across all menus (nothing vegan on the dessert menu for example, very poor).

Called in for breakfast after a stay at the adjoining Travelodge, it was what you'd expect from Toby Carvery, staff were friendly and the place was clean.

My family ate our Christmas lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was excellent and the carvery meat was very good quality and cooked to perfection (and a generous serving of it too ? The table service we received from Alana was friendly and attentive ❤️ Thanks for making it a lovely experience.

One word bad. The staff are helpful but the chef could do with a new set of whites. The plates need replacing. The food very little in meat more fat than meat. The vegetables dry & burnt. I live on army rations for six months in Afghanistan & that was better. Will not be going back.
