A hidden gem in Whitley Bay. We have tried the taster menu twice now and felt the food, service, atmosphere and experience was faultless on both occasions. Excellent, intimate restaurant with great personality.

Just moved to the area , we have had a few Tasting Menus in the Newcastle area , we found this Restaurant had a lot of good ratings reviews etc so decided to go and try. We found from the minute we entered not very welcoming at all. Chicken wings to us are not our choice the chicken skin was soft which put us off. We found the chicken liver parfait was basically that nothing memorable l, fish and chips tiniest piece of turbot not much taste to it at all then 1 slice of white bread and butter arrived when we had finished the dish. Venison rare which we thought should be medium , cold plates throughout, dessert which I really looked forward to was so bland had no taste at all apart from the honeycomb that was it l . The dessert was ice cream with crumbled honey comb , really set pear jelly, not even sure it was a dessert to be honest, the wine flight wasn’t value for money at all 3 175ml of wine 1 dessert wine is not worth the money at all. The wine is matched with each course but at the Roxburgh 1 glass was split between 2 courses. Having said that the wine tasted amazing. Really cold inside. Looks dated. Some good cooking in parts but cold plates. Don’t think we would return.

Absolutely outstanding as always - the tasting menu was incredible, and great value. I had a pescatarian version and my partner had the standard one - wrong choice of word though as there was nothing standard about it. Inventive, fun, delicious dishes made with the finest quality ingredients in a lovely setting with impeccable service. Also the best Old Fashioned we’d ever had. The takeaway Vicky sponge to eat in bed with a cuppa afterwards was the icing on the cake. Pure class, and a total asset to Whitley Bay.

Wow wow wow ? Absolutely delightful meal last night. Oyster mushrooms were delicate and delicious and the potato sauce was a dream. Loved the biscuit desert and nostalgic treat ❤️. Definitely recommend to my fellow veggies, and I’ll most certainly be back. Thank you for a splendid evening The Roxburgh, Kerry

What a wonderful little restaurant! Can't ask for much more than great food, wine and very welcoming staff not to mention the cosy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The menu isn't huge but that is what I'd expect from a little independent place like this and it still had good variety of choice and more than satisfied the appetites and palates of a hungry family of 4. It even satisfied a normally fussy 9 year old! The quality of the food was second to none and the prices very reasonable despite the rampant inflation in our economy! Overall it offers a wonderful dining experience and fabulous value for money. Highly recommended for anyone finding themselves in the Whitley Bay area.

My recent visit to the Roxburgh with friends was a delight. It was most certainly a highlight of our trip and we all felt the evening was extra special from the vibe, the staff and the amazing food and wine! We would highly recommend and support this little gem of a place.

We were really pleased that Gary started Sunday dinners again as we can't always make it all of the way over from Whickham for an evening meal with the kids, much as we would love to! It did not disappoint, the beef was melt in the mouth and everything on the plate had been prepared and presented with such care and attention. The kids were really happy with their generous portions and delicious puddings! We'll definitely be back, hopefully for an evening set menu, if we can get a babysitter!

Have been once before when it was all a carte. Now a taster menu and the place has had a really good facelift. Very french looking which is right up my street. Now has a bar where before you took your own wine and payed corkage. For what seems to be one chef and one front of house, it's quite amazing how well they do. Very calm. Lovely welcome. And the food is just sublime. What imagination. You won't get this food anywhere else that's I m aware of. It's very reasonably priced. The wine is also not overly marked up like some establishments that I'm not naming
