Came to this place as the Google reviews was great, but don't be fooled, the fish I received was very soggy and oily and so was my girlfriends sausage and batter! You would expect it to have some sort of crunch! The chips was okish and they use cheap tartar sauce packets. Overall we won't be coming back. My suggestion is go to the CodFather in Abergavenny, much better local fish bar :)

What a gem of a place,fantastic food,great service with a smile, we are on holiday from Cornwall on the canal not far away,the owner was telling me about her first trip to Cornwall, we will definitely use this place

living in the netherlands you cant get good fish n chips,so while staying in govilon,we just couldnt resist,was really nice and pkentiful

Came here upon the glowing recommendations. Unfortunately, the reviews didn’t quite reflect the food itself. The fish was chunky and flaked relatively well, yet the batter was not good. It was very stodgy, having zero crunch or crisp to it. The chips were nice but undercooked. I was expecting better. The service was good. Would I return? No.

Wonderful fish and chips.It is a cash only establishment which may not suit everyone, but I think it's great, we need to keep cash alive and the proprietor is very honest and enthusiastic.You won't find a better fish bar anywhere. ??Kid-friendliness: There is a great kid box selection at a great price

Brilliant, friendly ladies and delicious fish and chips - so welcome on a rainy Saturday evening. Stayed really warm on the walk back to the canal. Such great value too!

Cash only... sign outside. Never went in, no cash and no obvious cash machine in the vicinity. Most disappointed having driven 5 miles to go there.
Absolutely beautiful fish bites and chips enjoyed in the sunshine. Excellent value.
