We visited as a family, and on arrival all was well. We all ordered our meals no starters as we were a large party so decided to go straight to the mains also being regulars on occasion knew the meal portions are large. Majority ordered the Sunday roast, what a disappointment!! The food was partially cold other parts warm.. the roast potatoes!! What can I say!! Wow! Seriously take them off the menu or find someone who can cook roast potatoes properly!! The whole “it’s the potatoes we use” doesn’t wash!! Anyone and any variety of potato can be cooked properly when you know how! That excuse was laughable and slightly embarrassing! We even noticed other tables commenting on how awful they were. They were so hard my son chipped a tooth!!! Very very disappointing. We used to love coming here for food, it used to be fantastic. What’s happened? It’s awful. Table table serves better roast dinners! We were so disappointed and not for the 1st time but thought it’s been a while we’ll go, wish we hadn’t wasted the money and booked somewhere else. The staff also need to learn the bars ears shot from tables people can hear you slagging them off! So unprofessional and unnecessary. And adding on extra drinks to the bill, only being a few cokes when they were paid for by cash at the bar during the meal is also awful! We paid for them again anyway because we just wanted to leave. We felt extremely uncomfortable by the staff. Safe to say we’ve done you a favour we won’t be returning. Such a shame really.. it’s a very beautiful place.

The food was delicious. I had sirloin steak and it was cooked exactly as I requested (medium rare) which doesn't happen often. The service was good and the staff really helpful and friendly. I would recommend it.

What a fantastic little pub, we stayed for two nights, the food as exceptional, the staff could not do enough for you, the rooms are fantastic with attention to detail. John the owner was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for him.

I found the hotel on the Red Letter Days site as we had a voucher to use and I'm so glad we decided to book it. The hotel is located in a small quiet village about 5 miles from Abergele in an idyllic setting overlooking the river and accessed via a hump back bridge. From the warm welcome we received on arrival to a reluctant goodbye when we left, we could not have had a better experience. The staff are all friendly and helpful as is John the landlord. Nothing is too much trouble and they made our stay extremely pleasant and enjoyable. The food is amazing and cooked to order so arrives fresh and hot and the atmosphere is very welcoming making you feel very at home. We had booked a further night and were so impressed on arrival that we booked an extra night, making our stay four nights in all. We met other guests for whom clearly this was not their first visit but which has become a firm favourite place to stay. We stayed in a room called Bodran which was amazing, larger than your average hotel room and with all the comforts you could need. There is nothing negative I can say about our stay and we can't wait to book again.

This was the best Sunday roast we have had, lovely, friendly service- although we did have to catch their attention to order and ask for more drinks/pudding menu etc. But overall great and we will be back- especially for the roast!

I was taken here for dinner by my friend that lives near by. We were four people and three ordered steak. Two did not like their steak at all. Because I was visiting from Canada my friend didn’t want to cause a scene when paying. She choose to call the following day to voice her complaint. She spoke with Tesley the manager who was suppose to have the owner John Fisher call her back. Needless to say he never called her back. So unprofessional when you are paying for food that you didn’t get satisfaction from. We are completely turned off by this and will never go back.

We had stayed here before so knew what to expect. Room (twin) was on 1st floor, well equipped in bathroom too (shower) which was roomy and warm. Excellent breakfast with choices and evening meals were varied, delicious and big! Great atmosphere, excellent, friendly staff together with great advice and help from owner John. Thank you, we'll see you again.

This used to be my favourite place to eat, sadly now it’s the usual everything with chips pub. I know why, it because the two original cooks set up business in the excellent Olivia’s Cafe just over the bridge. It doesn’t look promising, set in a petrol station but don’t let appearances deceive you, the food is great, piping hot, lots of it, delicious. My recommendation, eat at the cafe, go for a pint at the pub.

Beautiful tranquil setting for this amazing Pub/Restaurant/Hotel Friendly helpful owners John and his wife. Professional and caring staff. We had a large room with dual aspect views. Set in lovely Welsh countryside, well placed for visits to Conwy Llandudno etc. Comfortable king sized bed, with dreamy soft pillows. The food served was excellent, with a varied choice on the menu. We will certainly be going back in the future, and highly recommend that you pay John and his wife a visit x

The Black is the perfect place to go for a happy experience. Tables are nicely spaced so you don't have to listen to the next table. Food is always perfect. I had the salmon in a lovely orange and cranberry sauce. And for dessert I had chocolate and orange cake to die for. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. It's a very friendly pub . Your shown to your table very quickly so you don't have to hang about looking awkward. Just wish I could stay the night after I've eaten. Would be a wonderful place to stay.
