Fantastic fish and chips. The staff is fantastic and accommodated our request to give us our chips quickly as we were about to miss the last bus of the week out of Borth!

For an establishment that is classed as a chip shop is a joke .unless you want your food BTW very very small portions .not chips but swimming in nasty tasting oil then this is the place to go .no smell of food cooking. Very miserable staff and a very long wait outside which I didn't understand why you had to do that then go to this place .otherwise stay the well away and better still visit a completely different town

Perfect place for a chippy! Beach was stunning. Food wise everything was slightly under fried. Some soggy batter and anaemic chips. But still tasted okay.

It's the only chippy in the area so it was an easy choice for food. The portions are small compared to the chippies in my area. But they did something I have been meaning to try for a while, battered snickers and mars bars! The mars turns very sweet but the snitchers stays nice. That's just a matter of taste. But something that I saw others mention is the grease. Expect a lot of grease! It's great if you plan on running your diesel car on it, if not, you'll end up with a lot of grease! LolThe food is ok but greasy. A little too pricey for what you get.All in all, average.Enjoy.

The food was tasty.. no more expensive than any other seasoned fish shop by the sea.I didn't like that they ask you to wait outside after you pay. My first visit resulted in food missing, with young girls serving behind the counter, but when mentioned a day or two later no questions were asked and this was rectified. This I thought went a long way in my eyes as they'd never met me before.I would definitely use again

Just had a large portion of chips and curry sauce. They were tasty and moreish. But the portion size was a little small for the price. Friendly staff though. Would go again.
Over the last 3 years my family and I have used The Surrey, whilst visiting Borth, and always thought it was fabulous. However, we were very disappointed with our meal last night.Chips were very greasy - so much so that you couldn't taste the seasoning as the oil was so overpowering. The fish was a decent size but unfortunately the batter was soggy/undercooked. Again, everything was just so oily. Unfortunately, my son brought it all back up again on the night, due to the oil/grease.I can only assume they had a bad night, but for a family of 4, this was an expensive meal that was meant to be a treat.I will say the service inside was very friendly and pleasant but my family has been put off going again.

Usually use the other chip shop but chose to try The Surrey instead this week. What a mistake. Fish was undercooked and greasy, so much so i couldnt eat the batter as it was dripping oil. The chips, although soft, did not look like they had been cooked. They were more like mash than a crispy chip. The wait was very long too for such a simple order of just fish and chips. Thoroughly disappointed and won't be trying again.

Really chuffed they have now got a vegan pie option - was delicious! Chips were lovely and fresh, good portion size. And they were quick and had a good service system in place, very good! ??Vegetarian options: Vegan pie now available, potato and cauliflower, along with other options.
