Rocked up earlier this week after booking dinner for 6 people some months ago for our stay in Brecon. Found it permanently shut . Whilst we have some sympathy with the owners in these hash commercial times, why could they not warn us that they had ceased trading ? That would have been the decent thing. Thier website is still live.

We looked for somewhere close to where we was staying and found the Bank, not a very extensive menu, I chose sausage, mash and Mt wife had ham, egg and chips, 3 sausage with mash, mushy peas and gravy, £13.95, ham, egg and chops £12.95, nice food but expensive for what it was

‘Worst meal I have eaten’. Greasy burger, congealed gravy. Poor lighting. But it was the only restaurant we could find in Brecon so grateful it was open.

Great atmosphere. Nice friendly staff. Our meals were generous and hot. Chips are different bit fatty /greasy for my liking.. Good basic pub grub

If you're happy to pay £7.50 for soup which by the way, has probably the same amount of content you get from a can of coke, then this is the place. The food is good, I'd say a solid 6/10. Not a real big hit on flavour and portion sizes don't really add up with the price given.Definitely not living up to the 2022 standard of food.We had a mid size party attending and the bill was around the £200 mark. This place is also dog friendly.

Pros: The staff were nice and it’s dog friendly. Cons: Decor dated, no atmosphere. Food poor and horrendously over priced. Same (maybe even less!) quality as a weatherspoons - but least there it’s cheap! Would never eat there again.

We visited Brecon for a day out, initially thought The Bank was closed so tried another hotel/restaurant for food but sadly they didn't have enough staff to offer food. The town was busy with lots of people looking for lunch. We wandered back and spotted the doors of The Bank open. We were not expecting to be seated as it was so busy inside, but a lovely & astute Lady presumably the Manager checked out a reservation on a table and decided we had time to eat before the table was needed. How glad we were, we ordered drinks, I was offered me an alternative to what I'd asked for as they didn't stock it. We ordered our food with a polite member of the team, waited a reasonable amount of time for it to arrive and when it did we weren't disappointed, Crunchy roast potatoes soft in the middle, tasty roasted vegetables, crispy green vegetables, creamy yummy cauliflower cheese and a rare find indeed a yorkshire pudding that was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside cooked perfectly. The pork was well cooked with crunchy crackling, I had the veggie option, a mushroom wellington which was cooked well and tasty. Loads of gravy which was so very tasty and silky smooth. We didn't have room for pudding but the choice looked tempting. The staff team worked hard and were very busy, but seemed happy in their work and supported each other whilst presenting a professional and friendly service to all customers. It will be our first port of call wen we are next in Brecon!

We popped in whilst visiting Brecon today. We didn’t book and they were busy but managed to fit us in and we didn’t wait long. Service was speedy and good and our Sunday roasts were beautifully presented, tasted delicious and there was a good variety of veg. We could not fault it and for just over £60 for four of us we thought it was also great value. This is a dog friendly eatery so it was a bonus to have the company of some very well behaved and extremely cute canines too! It’s definitely worth a visit if you are in Brecon town and we will almost certainly return for Sunday lunch when we are in the vicinity again.

I can't comment on the quality of the food in this pub, because we didn't hang around long enough to order. Basically, it took so long to take our order that we decided to cut our losses and go to The George. I think the staff were doing their best, but the pub was busy and there were just too few of them. Although it's a personal preference, playing 70's hits at high volume did not enhance the waiting experience for us. I know it's hard work to run a pub, and I am sure there are many worse than this one, but on a Friday night it needs to staff up, or restrict food service. I don't like leaving a (mildly) negative review, but I felt that it would be salutary for the establishment if I did.

Booked a table this morning via email which was answered almost immediately Arrived and was greeted by a friendly busy team The place was bustling and the food on tables and coming past us looked and smelt amazing I ordered beef my son pork Came with a giant home made Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roast veg ,roast potatoes a dish of summer veg and a dish of cauliflower cheese, covered in red wine gravy I tried with all my might but could not finish the plate The presentation was amazing Staff attentive and service as good Highly recommend Sunday lunch at the bank ? (My picture is before I added the veg)

Very good food and efficient and pleasant service. My only criticism is that dogs were allowed in! I really dislike dogs being allowed in places where food is being served. However, people with dogs were in one side of the restaurant, those of us without were in the other. Phew!

Charged nearly £30 for an 8oz serloin steak and told if you want chips with it that would be another £4.50! Nearly £35 for a steak and chips. Chips were better than the steak, which was tough, tasteless and dry. Don't mind paying top price for a great steak but this was dreadful. We also had a 'homemade' lasagna. Pasta, dry tasteless mince, melted cheese arrived sat in a puddle of oil. No veg in it, no tomato sauce present. We ordered two deserts and were charged for three. Customer service was fine until we complained. The restaurant says 'wine bar' on the door however, could only offer one red wine option by the glass, which was vile. Place was dirty and tatty. We will not return.

Went for Sunday dinner the day before the Royal Welsh started so quite busy around town and it was excellent! All fresh veg, good quality meat and home made Yorkshire puddings!Staff were very attentive and even chased us down the road with a accidental over payment!!

Right where to start. I was working away on business and I was excited to get my dinner in Brecon. I decided to go to the bank based on a recommendation. They let me come in an hour earlier than my reservation, but it was pretty empty.Anyway I order my dinner. I think I decided to get the chicken supreme, not anything too extravagant. It did seem expensive for what it was £16.50. Anyway I waited for between 50 minutes to 1 hour. I did say to the waiter that I was contemplating leaving and then my food miraculously came out. I was hoping the food would be better than the wait. However it was very disappointing. Considering I had 16.50 for some mash, chicken and broccoli. I expected either a bigger portion or better quality considering the time it required to prepare. It was very underwhelming and I would not come back here again.
