Great little find. Stopped for lunch and food and staff were fantastic. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. Well worth a visit.

Lovely countryside pub, next to a canal and river, great views, small beer garden, free parking! Cosy warm pub, plenty of choice of beers, ciders and spirits, didn’t have food, but looked beautifully cooked, nice atmosphere and friendly polite staff, will be back!Noteworthy details: Lovely canal runs along side the pub, small beer garden and free parking!

Had a very nice meal here and staff were very friendly. The only reason I'm not giving a higher star rating is the fact the on a freezing day the restaurant was cold. There seemed to be no heating or fire on and ended up having to wear our coats whilst eating.

Great country pub with a fireplace and warm atmosphere. Very large selection of beers and lagers and great food menu (the steak & ale pie was superb). The pub is a few steps away from a river and canal.

Amazing place, the service is impeccable, really good food, customer service and lovely staff. We loved the decoration and the meals..dog friendly and very cozy. We went to eat at 2:45pm and they served us, a family came after us and then another couple who were hiking and they ate as well. Amazing service! They make you feel welcome and at home. The same with the food, is like when grandma cooked for the family. Will go back for sure!! And recommend 100%

We have visited twice this week whilst in the area - prebooked sunday lunch - perfect - good portions - friendly service despite being busy - friday evening - although not prebooked , seated and served with a great meal- service was excellent and the “is everything ok with your meal” a real welcome these days . Well done to all the staff - great service and superb food.

My wife and I dropped in at lunch on the off chance. I was initially concerned as they had a sign saying no service outside due to staff shortages but we decided to sit inside and give it a go. The barman was helpful and served a really good pint! I ordered a rump steak and my wife ordered a veggie lasagne. My steak was perfectly cooked, extremely tender and full of flavour. The chips were crispy outside, fluffy inside and not a trace of grease. The lasagne was nice and cheesy and moist, not a dried up offering you often get. Well done the White Hart despite the staffing challenges. We won’t hesitate in returning when next in the area.

Great food; good and quick service; friendly, helpful and courteous staff - the 3 young ladies, Billy and his mate, and the wonderful lady who gave me change for £20 AND the phone number for a local garage who Billy phoned. Geraint opened his garage for us to give us engine oil when AA just kept deferring their arrival time.

We went for Sunday lunch, we were attracted by the fabulous aroma as we approached on our canal boat. And what a great lunch it was, real home cooked splendor. The bar stocked an amazing choice of beers and the service was excellent.

Well worthy of five stars. Really, really excellent food at reasonable prices. There is lots to like here, but food is stand out. Expectations are easily exceeded considering the fairly limited nature of options if you're in and around Talybont and the canal.Talking of which, you can walk up to the hotel / pub directly from the canal path as well as park up for free in their car park at the front.Of the two pub options in Talybont, I'd say the White Hart just edges it over the Star. but each to their own. Neither are bad, both are excellent.
