Went for a meal at the plough, big portions and good food. Our servers Vicki & Sophie were very attentive, professional & the service was quick.

The server seated us, handed us the menus and told us they had finished serving Sunday Lunch, which was helpful, although at 8pm on Sunday night, I hadn’t expected they would still be serving it.We studied the menu. I fancied the Steak and Ale pie. When she came to take our order, she said they had run out of this item. The only 2 tables present when we arrived were finished, or nearly so, so it hadn’t gone since we arrived. Don’t you hate choosing something that appeals then being told that it is unavailable?We ordered our food and drinks.The drinks only arrived just before our meal, some 15 minutes later. Odd, when no one else was waiting to be served food or drink in the restaurant.The food was reasonable pub grub. My mushroom and chicken pie had nice crisp pastry. There was no need to provide a little jug with more gravy as plenty had been put on the meal already – I’d prefer to do this myself. The veg and mash wouldn’t win any prizes, and weren't as good as I would do at home, but they were ok.We had a “30% off mains” voucher and at the price we paid, I’d probably give 4 stars. But at the full price, which most people will pay most of the time, it feels closer to 3 stars.
