I’m 74 and have had quite a few ‘fish and chips’ in my life, this place rates as the worst. I went in at 4pm so had hard dry chips kept warm for probably 3 hours, and the fish, although cooked whilst I waited, was just awful. This place needs a serious review of their batter recipe, and their staff need an injection of enthusiasm. Needless to say, won’t go again and would not recommend it.

Very hit and miss! One week the fish is nicely cooked and juicy, the next it's over cooked and dry. The chips are sometimes excellent and sometimes dried out and sharp. They have a revolving door of staff, who desperately need good training in frying and good customer service. The restaurant on the side is revolting, get it sorted!! This chippy seems to be very unloved by the owner.

I do love a good ol' Fish n Chips. No.12 is a lovely place that cooks some very good food, reasonably priced and lots of items to choose from! Not a lot of atmosphere in the waiting/ordering zone: just a few leaflets, 1 chair and 1 table but that shouldn't be a problem since orders can be done pretty fast!Kid-friendliness: A kids menu exists with some meal deals for them! Including Sausages, chicken nuggets and more, all come with chips and a small drink.

Ridiculously expensive! £19 for 4 chip butties and a small chips?!The food is nice but nothing specialThe staff clearly have no love for their workAnd the owner doesn't care about their reviews onlineWill be happy to see them leave Chepstow as they inevitably will

I give up.. am out.. inconsistent.. sometimes you get a good portion which is hot and great.. but lately too many times they are like tonight, chips are cold and dried up and 1/2 portion sizes.. not worth the money. Will not be returning..

Clearly a popular place as on the day we went people were queuing out the door. It was worth the short wait. Great quality fish and chips that are reasonably priced, friendly staff and banter with the other patrons. Right next door to the church hence the photo.

Visiting the area with my partner so we had quite a decent spread from across the ‘usual’ menu items. The chips were tasty, classic chip shop style chips, freshly fried and with lashings of salt a vinegar.Battered sausage was nicely battered, not thickly coated and nicely crispy. The sausage itself was the standard catering sausage but with the batter it was nicely elevated. The saveloy was nicely flavourful, exactly as you would expect. It was also freshly prepared so the casing wasn’t tough from being sat under a heat lamp. That may be a good or bad thing for some people, depending how you prefer it.Bread roles were nice and thick, nicely buttered. They were wrapped in paper not plastic so didn’t pick up any plastic flavour which was refreshing. The highlight was the large battered cod. Price wise it was excellent value at £7.85. The batter was delicious, light and crispy. Cooked fresh to order, it was a nice piece of fish. One of the best battered cod pieces I’ve had a long time.Parking: There is a pay and display car park a minute’s walk away behind Marks and Spencer’s. At the time of my visit charging was suspended, but otherwise it appears to charge £1 for 2 hours.

Very pleased to have this place as my local chippy! My family and I have gotten fish and chips here on many occasions and it's always been consistently delicious. My primary highlight that I recommend is their battered fish.Battered Cod FishThe batter is light and crispy. I really hate it when I get fish and chips and the batter is overpowering and far too thick where it feels like I'm eating more batter than fish. That couldn't be further from the truth here.ChipsYour standard chip shop chips. Nothing special, but consistently good.I also regularly get their gravy on the side and it is bog standard gravy. However, the reason for 5 stars is definitely the fish. I've had fish and chips from all around South Wales and this place is definitely my favourite so far!

Food always good. Speed of service is always painfully slow. It’s a chip shop that’s always waiting for more chips to be cooked. This place could make a fortune if it was just more focussed.

Had takeaway fish and chips. Food was delicious about average price. Generous portion given. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I stopped in here while backpacking Offas Dyke. The atmosphere was very friendly, service was prompt, food was delicious. What more could you want from a chippy? I got cod and chips and she had a steak pie, both of us had mushy peas. The fish was cooked perfectly. We actually were on a walk from Lands End to John o’ Groats and ate at a lot of pubs and chippys along the way and this was the best along the whole route. Well Done. If I lived in Chepstow this would definitely be my chippy.

Food was lovely but small portions and expensive for what it was. The woman who served us was very rude ignored us when asked a question banging and slamming stuff absolutely disgusting customer service won't be going there again

Good size portion of fish and cooked to perfection, chips cooked great, crispy but not dry. All cooked fresh and did not have to wait very long. Price as with all now not cheap but at least the quality is 100%.Also have seats to wait, please note we had takeaway not sit in as it was in the evening and the restaurant part was not open.No parking directly outside but you can at the moment park in M&S for free and its a walk of less than one minute.Highly recommended they take cask and card. Also they had vegi options of sausage and more, as far as I'm aware it's cooked in the same oil as non vegetarian products so not purely vegetarian but only in part.Wheelchair accessibility: Level acess. Double yellows out front blue badge would be an option here

Poor and unfriendly service, owner busy changing up prices on the board with little regard for the customers in the shop. Food not bad but at the new higher prices will be going elsewhere.
