Excellent, friendly pub. Very welcoming to us and our 4 dogs. The carvery was superb. Not your usual tepid, soggy offering. Really fresh, hot and delicious and great value. The £5 all day parking fee can be redeemed on food in the pub as well which we appreciated.Vegetarian options: The vegan nut roast was delish.

Lovely pub in a great location. Food was great. Service at the bar a little slow, but wouldn't normally be an issue. However after getting 2 copies of our parking ticket, one displaying in the car, the other the receipt, when presenting this to the pub we were told we weren't able to redeem the £5 back, as stated everywhere. Apparently there was supposed to be another ticket that printed, in addition to the two we had. I went to the car in a dounpour to try and then redeem it with that ticket, but even asking to speak to the manager, was told no. After a lovely walk and a lovely meal, this leaves a really bad taste in our mouth. The manager did not want to help, and customer service is clearly not a focus here. Hence the 1 star review. It's the little things that make a big difference, and anyone in the hospitality industry with a manager title should know this.

Nice sunshine complemented the surroundings situated in the beautiful countryside of South Wales . We were welcomed by friendly, patient and helpful staff who showed us a good choice of reasonable priced menu .We weren’t disappointed with the quality of food .After finishing our lunch we weren’t rush to leave after we took our elderly fragile uncle with us .The Anchor staff were very understanding allowing us to spend some quality time with our uncle after we’d driven a long way to see him .When we next visit the area we’d definitely eat there again .

Very busy and therefore slow on a Sunday with a very nice looking roast offering plus their usual menu.Nice spot.If you paid £5 to park all day in the nearby car park they will refund it against purchases on presentation of your parking stub.

Lovely place. The staff are pleasant and friendly. Food was amazing, I had the hunters chicken and the wife had a ploughman's. Good portion sizes too. Will definitely be back, the Abbey was in darkness tonight when we left and was hoping to see it lit up.

Amazing food I loved the gammon steak with chips fried egg pineapple and tomato it was delicious would definetely go again!! I also found it very efficient and my food came fairly quickly and was freshly prepared and well presented. On the whole it was a great atmosphere and experience and I would personally fully recommend going to this pub!

It being a busy day with plenty of tourists, i found the atmosphere quite oppressive. Staff seemed a little overrun, with too few members available for the amount of customers. A good burger, solid pub food, but wouldn't rush back.

Found this place by chance. What a great pub food was outstanding lasagna was perfect and not swimming in oil. My husband had the steak pie which was homemade and he said the flavours were delicious. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back.

We stopped to get drinks and take advantage of the lovely garden with play area for our little one. There were wasps around in swarms outside, we could not sit and enjoy our drinks and ended up leaving. Unfortunately, there were many tables left with leftover food and drinks that were not cleared which made the situation worse. There was even a table covered in food from a party with half a birthday cake, just melting in the heat. Lovely setting, nice little park and large grass area, shame we found t sit and enjoy it as we would have ordered food.

Ordered the fish and chips. It was the smallest piece of fish I've ever seen, and it was one of the cheaper white fish substitutes rather than cod or plaice. Would happily paid around £9 mark for what I got but felt ripped off at a smidge under £16. Wouldn't go back.

We stayed in Tintern, which is a beautiful village. There are five places to eat in such a small place. We booked The Anchor, which is in a beautiful location, overlooking the Abbey. Unfortunately, the service was very poor. We waited a long time to be served with our drinks and then to take the order. I have a garlic allergy and they were good at checking the menu for this. The food was very average. My daughters ordered dessert and waited over half an hour for this. When I questioned where it was, we were told there had been a mis communication with the system and the kitchen hadn’t picked it up. We had booked in for a second evening but cancelled following our experience.

We were a host of 12 people. The food was brilliant. The service was nice and the drinks were refreshing. Definitely recommend trying the blood orange cider!

Had a delightful caesar salad here with the loaded fries, but wished I'd looked at the specials board. It was around £22/person.The parking was free after 7pm and there was a great view of the Abbey ruins

Such a lovely pub, the food was great which went well with a great selection of drinks. Menu caters for everyone and there are no bad options. Managed to squeeze desert in too which was also delicious! Can redeem the five pounds you have to spend on parking here too which is very useful. Lovely staff and atmosphere ?

This is a lovely place for lunch, with really pleasant staff and fairly good food. The views from here are spectacular and we used it asa base to walk to the Devil’s Pulpit.
