Went on spec for lunch today. Haven't been here for a couple of years as we live some distance away and were visiting nearby Bodnant Gardens at the time. The Hayloft offer a 3 course set lunch menu and the food was exceptionally good and sensibly priced at just under £30 each for 3 courses. There was a good and imaginative choice on the menu and every aspect was to a high standard in the cooking and presentation. Our visit was on a cool bright spring day and there was a lovely welcoming log fire burning. We sat at a table by a window with the sun streaming in. The views from the windows are lovely over surrounding countryside and the River Conwy. We will most certainly return, even if it is a drive for us - it would be well worth it. Highly recommended. On site there is the Furnace Cafe offering light lunches but today we opted for the Hayloft and were delighted.

Fine restaurant, a couple of very minor grumbles about the food but the staff were what made the difference. Certainly will be visiting again. The 1/2 deal was also a BIG bonus.

Dined on a Sunday evening in Feb with my wife, place was very quiet and nicely decorated and the staff were polite and welcoming. The food was excellent and arrived quickly, we shared the Hayloft Roast for Two and there was plenty for both of us without any extra sides and probably the best tasting Sunday lunch I've had in a while. Gravy was superb and to me the meal was great value for money. All the meat is sourced locally and prepared on site as well.If I had one concern - they allow dogs into the restaurant, which I found odd. Unfortunately one other guest in the place could not control their dogs barking, but thankfully left soon after we arrived.

We visited for a family meal last night (27/12/23) booked got 6 of us at 6pm. Place was empty and only had us 6 eating. 2 others in the restaurant who had already eaten when we sat down. Ordered food. Steak came out rare when asked for medium, both lamb chops freezing and not edible. Sent back. Was just warmed up but not the rest of the food so meat was hot but the rest was cold. Couldn't eat the veg, didn't supply steak knifes for the pork. It was just a bad experience! ? to say there was only 6 of us and no one else in the restaurant, there is no excuse for the appalling food!

We visited New Year’s Eve and left bitterly disappointed. The food was ‘average’ at best matched by the service. A limited choice of menu but a 3 course pre set charge was mandatory I therefor opted for ribs to start ( which were under seasoned and tasteless) roast beef for main which was ‘ok’ but the Welsh cheese selection was poor esp when there was a surcharge for “a selection of Welsh cheeses” which turned out to be two thin slices of only two cheeses accompanied by stale jacobs crackers, hard butter still in their wrappers, the chutney was pleasant. Add to this, I was desperate for another glass of something to help wash down the food but could not attract anyone’s attention (no one came to the table of empty glasses to ask) in the end I gave up on the idea of enjoying a glass of red with my beef, we paid up and left bitterly disappointed as we were looking forward to the visit. Oh, when we were sat at the table, my cutlery was tarnished with candle wax and had to be changed …. Attention to detail all round was noticeable (unfortunately)

Poor food Chicken nuggets served as crispy chicken Any old meat served as Welsh black how insulting And Turkey slices instead of real turkey

Called in for refreshments while walking in the area. Fantastic find, lovely location, welcoming real fire, dog friendly bar area. Very friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere.

We went on the over 65's 50% off offer but it would have been good value at the full price. The air temperature was a little cool to start but I soon warmed up with some soup. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was excellent - hot, nicely presented and good quality.

We got married at Bodnant last month and I cannot fault them. The food was excellent and we had a fabulous day all round. Olivia the wedding planner was really easy to deal with and organised everything so well.

I don’t know what’s happened to this place. We used to come here regularly and It was one of our favourite places to come for food locally but in the last 12 months it’s really declined. We haven’t been here since we came for dinner around Christmas time last year which was terrible. We decided to go back recently and see if things had picked up. Initially all seemed to be back on track and the food was really good. Unfortunately this time it wasn’t the taste of the food but the food hygiene. Despite my wife and I having strong constitutions, we’ve both traveled quite a bit to countries that have a reputation for giving you food poisoning and not been sick, we both got sick here. I’ve met my match in North Wales. They really need to sort it out as it really was nice a while ago. Service is lacklustre too.
