I have been here a number of times over the past 18 months and enjoyed it. However, the recent visit I was very disappointed. The room was cold with no atmosphere. The service was poor. Took a while to bring drinks and it was quiet at the time. When a second round of drinks were ordered we were forgotten about. The food wasn't very warm and the staff actually dropped some food orders whilst serving others, not once but several times.I have had a good few visits but I won't be visiting again.

Went in completely off the cuff and unplanned as only in the area on holiday and it was excellent! Would definitely recommend to

The roast beef was absolutely topnotch and very reasonably priced. However, a note to the managers/owners: the ordering and serving of the food and drink was utterly shambolic. The woman who opened the door to the three groups that had arrived early for a 12 o'clock lunch looked sullen and didn't see fit to greet the customers at the door. When we got to the table, there was no wine list. It was only once it became clear that the staff couldn't remember enough about the wines to answer our questions about which country each wine was from that we were given the mini chalkboard wine list from the main bar. Our requirements weren't difficult, but difficult to achieve without a list.We ordered one farmhouse pate starter, two roast beef mains and one roast lamb. The roast beef, as noted above, was excellent, all three of them; we never got the roast lamb.In fact, the main course was to our table so quickly that we didn't get the pate starter, either. We did get the wine, but it arrived at our table after the food did, and it was the wrong wine. So, the lovely Argentinian Malbec that we finally got was being poured a good five minutes after the meal had been served, rather than five to ten minutes before.A lovely meal marred by subpar service that could easily be fixed by some clarity as to who is responsible for serving which table.

Great Sunday lunch, probably could have done with a bit more veg, but otherwise a stunning beef dinner. Highly recommended.

First Time for Sunday lunch ? It was the best roast beef dinner ever. The beef was so succulent that you didn't need a knife to cut it, ? I truly recommend you book a table as it is very popular.I shall be returning there

Was really looking forward to a meal here given the glowing reviews, but it's not what it was years ago. Very run down. Toilets were smelly & given the cobwebs, hadn't been cleaned properly a long time. The servers were friendly enough & the wait time was short (as id expect given there were only 2 tables of custom that evening), but the food definitely doesn't look like the pictures on their website. No atmosphere due to how empty it was. Cold. Dreary music playing.Would not recommend, im sorry to say.

Loveky location. Good food. Service was a bit off for our visit but it would not put us off going again. Good dietary allowances.

Very good meal . Generous portions. A little chilly until woodburner was lit. We had to sit in the bar area with our dogs but the restaurant looked lovely.
