I went here as a guest to my nieces baby shower. The room was warm and inviting and decorated beautifully. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had great fun playing a few 'baby' related games, too! The dining area, open plan kitchen, and restrooms were excellent and very clean. We had a lovely afternoon tea buffet, with a great selection... and the scones with clotted cream and jam were delicious. Drinks were very reasonably priced also. Great venue, I'd say for any similar events or gatherings. Lots of parking space. Definitely recommend this venue.

Lovely cafe, menu as you would expect from a cafe, food I had was excellent, fresh and hot and the staff friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend a visit when you are in the area or make the trip if you like fishing and camping. I was in my motorhome. Facilities are spotless and new.Wheelchair accessibility: There are even wheelchair accessible fishing spots by the lakes.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Our local MX-5 Social Group gathered here for breakfast a month ago, and were warmly greeted by the owners. Most of the group indulged in hearty breakfasts or breakfast sandwiches, and everyone was highly impressed with both the delicious food and impeccable service. The positive feedback was so overwhelming that we decided to come back for another visit yesterday (Sunday, November 5th). The group eagerly tucked into their hot cooked breakfasts with gusto. Some members even lingered until after lunchtime and enjoyed paninis or jacket potatoes with hot pots of tea or latte and cake, and once again, the compliments kept pouring in. Despite being busy with our group and other customers, the staff sailed through the orders with ease. It's great also to find a place that serves an All Day Breakfast and remains open 6 days a week. We can't praise Castle Café enough – it's a gem!

Arrived for two breakfasts mid morning and there was only three tables occupied and not very busy at all, the pot of tea was luke warm and tasteless and at £2.50 we thought at least it should have been hot, then we waited over 30 minutes before breakfast was brought to our table, the breakfast looked nothing like the photo on the website, the fried eggs were pale, soggy, and definitely not free range , the black pudding was very soggy and fatty, the bacon was the cheaper thick cut and tasteless, the sausage was average at best but plenty of baked beans in a glass jar, one slice of toast was brought to our table a few minutes after the breakfasts and it also was very soggy already spread with margarine and not butter, these breakfasts were charged at £7.95 each plus £2.50 per small pot of cold tea, we were so looking forward to visiting this place after seeing their website but left totally disappointed, I don't normally leave a review but felt on this occasion that I had to, hopefully all relevant reviews go towards improvement for all.

Visited today (Friday) which was burger night. What a nice place very friendly staff and a great burger and chips with a Beer thrown in for a good price. Very clean also. You can also camp or bring your motorhome or caravan. There’s also a fishing lake. Will definitely return. ThanksBill & SheilaParking: Large parking area outside the cafe

Great location, beside a fishery with great views from the terraced area, which is handy for us as it is dog friendly outside. We decided to visit for the first time recently, having heard the business was under new management. The staff are friendly and the food is of a good quality. Unfortunately (for us, not them!) when we arrived we were told that they had had a very busy morning and our food may take a while. Which was fine. All part of the learning process when you first take charge of a new venture. However we had to clear the table away that we wanted to sit at as it still had plates and cutlery from the previous customers. When we did get aporoached outside however the staff were quick to see the dishes and took them from us. The young lad who was waiting on then said he would clean our table for us. Great, we thought. Unfortunately, and for reasons we couldnt understand , he only cleaned half the table. After about 25 mins we still hadnt been served our pot of tea that we ordered, along with our breakfast. But then our breakfast came. I think the staff had forgotten about the pot of tea so we reminded them and this shortly arrived after we had already started tucking into our breakfast.Overall, everything was nice but we werent blown away by the experience. The food was overall good quality, but, unfortunately, was only warm and should have been served hotter. The beans btw were borderline cold! As was the tea. I can't fault the friendliness of the staff, however it appears that there may be a lack of direction and communication between those working here, due to our experience. The owner was very cordial and fussed over our dogs, but in the time we were there, he mustve gone outside at least 3 times for a cigarette. Can i suggest that when you are a new startup, if you are going to make the best from your business, you need to speculate to accumulate and work with the team to ensure everything is delivered, service and all, so working all hours to provide the right service at the right time, for everyone. A dedicated cafe manager may help the business out here and thus leaving the owner to do his mixing and mingling, which is definitely more his calling than team management is.Before we left, as we were driving away, we wound our car window down to say goodbye to one of the friendly staff members and she told us that we had forgotten to pay. Embarrasingly, i looked across to my partner who had placed our order at the till for us, who confirmed that we did in fact pay, in cash, as soon as we first placed our order inside. The girl then apologised and said that the lad who had taken our order mustnt have rung it off the till correctly - a prime example here of where we feel this potential gold mine could tighten up on things - by building a better communication between the staff. We will be back, as, overall we enjoyed the setting and the quality of food - we will just wait a few more weeks for the new team to settle in and get to grips with everything!

Beautiful vistas and lovely people and if you’re in to course fishing two well kept lakes.
