Sunday lunch on a rainy day in September. Delicious roast sirloin of beef, plenty of vegetables. Service kind, brisk and friendly. We'll definitely come here again.

My partner and myself visited here twice over the jazz festival weekend and it was so good. We're both vegan and the options were FANTASTIC. We had soup and a sandwich which was really filling, tasty and full of veg. Then we had Sunday dinner which I can only describe as art in my mouth. The best I've ever had! (Sorry Mam!) Can't wait to come back next year

Between courses, sometime after I’d swiped a perfectly cooked strand of fried onion from my husband’s starter, and tidied away the last of my own Cesar salad, I stopped our server to ask rhetorically, “The chef knows what he’s doing, doesn’t he?” Fishguard is a place to which a voracious , captive hoard of potential customers rocks or floats up twice a day. With the exception of a few stalwart chippers, and the Royal Oak pub, this fact seems to have escaped most of the town’s business folk. When we arrived at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday evening, with a long wait - plenty of time to eat, drink and spend our cash - for a 1:00 a.m. ferry, there seemed to be nothing (save the above-mentioned chippers and one decent pub) to be found. A restaurant near the harbour left us standing by the bar for five minutes while they “checked” for a table in an empty dining room, finally seated us with a couple of laminated menus before revealing most of the fish options (pescatarian husband) were gone - except for the breaded “scampi”. We departed amid mutterings from both ourselves and staff. Clearly we were the awkward squad. It was an increasingly grumpy 80 year old husband and I that stumbled through the door of JT’s just after 9:00 p.m. JT’s at the Abergwaun Hotel is located in the city centre, across from the afore mentioned Royal Oak pub. Because we had to wander off to find parking then hoof it back, it was 9:15 before we sat down at a table. As at restaurant number one, fish options were by then limited - the sea bass was gone, only cod available. That, however, is where all similarities between the two establishments ended. For our part, we continued to be the awkward squad. At 9:15, most diners were finishing their meals and the restaurant would have been within its rights to tell us the kitchen was closed. Instead, we were welcomed with a smile. I was craving a light starter - could I have the cesar salad listed as a side order for the mains instead of one of the starters on offer? “Yes, of course.” Given that there is only one fish available, can the grumpy one have half a portion of the vegetarian main dish as his starter? “I’ll just check with the chef”. A few moments later: “Yes, he can do that for you.” The food itself was delicious. The two starters - a Cesar salad and a half portion of an “Assiette” of summers vegetables layered with goats cheese won us over. The cod - served with summer greens, citrus mash and a Tuscan style tomato sauce - and the roast duck breast with crispy duck leg salad - were excellent. The thick, crispy/ fluffy house chips sealed the deal. We were the last to leave the dining room, but were given no tables-being-noisily-cleared-hints to go as we finished our wine. There is finally a good restaurant - a very good restaurant- in Fishguard. Hurry to it. We will - and we’ll try not to be so awkward next time.

I was really happy to see this place looking really good with a new breath of life. The food, wow, amazing. I have never had such a brilliant dinner out in Fishguard. The cocktails were also great and the JT special ones were invovative and delicious. I am proud to say that this place is in my home town and would recommend highly to friends and family. If you are ever in the area it is definitely worth the visit

Wow this was the BEST Sunday Roast meal I have ever had. My husband had the lamb and I had the beef - the meats were so tender and tasty, and all the fixings were perfect. We loved the cauliflower/broccoli cheese and the dauphinois potatoes! The servings were very generous. The restaurant itself was beautiful and all the staff were very kind, especially to our infant son. It was our first time visiting Fishguard and this meal made it extra memorable!

We have eaten here a couple of times and every time the food gets better and better. Service is excellent the cocktails are lovely and the wine list is extensive. But the food. The food is amazing. Well worth a visit

The outside does not prepare you for the amazing food inside, so focus on the menu! Three of us had various starters and main courses, all of which were excellent, and the staff were superb. I was visiting a friend in Fishguard, and he's been a few times with similarly good experiences.

We have not had a better dining experience in this part of West Wales . We chose different dishes from the limited menu and each was exceptional . The ingredients were fresh and they took care to ensure we understood what we could expect . The chef came to explain a particular dish because I have an allergy . The service was welcoming and efficient . We can recommenced to anyone who appreciates fine dining at a reasonable price

What a fantastic place. Absolutely superb breakfast cooked by Dan and beautifully served by Lois. We will be back for lunch and dinner in the near future. Thanks again both of you.
