This was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The prices were reasonable and the food was lovely. I was very impressed with the service from the staff, who were tentative without being over your shoulder. We would certainly visit again, and probably order exactly what we ordered today! Thank you everyone

I have been to the Tavern Y Phoenix several times over the last two years and although the food and service was good, nothing will ever compare to the lunch experience we have had this afternoon. From the initial booking experience to the actual visit today; the ambiance, cleanliness, professional quality of the service and food was truly exceptional. As a large family, I had several extra requests with regard to where we were placed within the venue and food requirements. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for the manager Alex and the chef Patrick. A wonderful welcome by both of them and the rest of the staff, the food was on a par if not way above a top quality restaurant. As a previous trainer/ manager of within a successful national brewery, I am very critically aware of the the training and customer experience within the hospitality industry. Take it away boys and girls, you were amazing!!!! Can't wait to book another visit to the Tavern Y Phoenix, would be immensely proud to be a representative of your team.

Ordered beef dinner. Beef very chewy. Vegetables not very warm and bisto gravy. Very disappointed. My husband had scampi and chips. Frozen chips and not many if them. No side garnish. Presentation poor and poor value for what is charged.

We had lunch in the Phoenix on Saturday 5th August. One of our party is gluton and dairy intolerant. We were provided with suitable menu and were impressed with the choice available. Food off both menus was most enjoyable. Staff were friendly and efficient

Very attentive and helpful staff food very good and good value. Only downside screaming child on adjacent table. Family area?

Took my family for lunch. The lady that was serving me tried to be as helpful as possible when I explained my daughter had a wheat and dairy allergy. She said she would go into the kitchen to ask the head chef if he could recommend or advise her. I over heard who I assumed to be the head chef say “tell them to f*** off and shoot the kid”. The lady who was serving me came back out of the kitchen and I told her what I had heard. Even though she looked extremely embarrassed she was very sympathetic and went through the menu with me to recommend a dish for my daughter. If I had not been served by this lady whose customer service was the only reason I stayed I would have walked out with my family. She is a credit to the Phoenix and the likes of the foul mouthed chef will only lower the standard of service in what could be a very welcoming family pub.

I hadn't been here for ages, but I remembered that it's a convenient distance from the shops at Cross Hands, where I was headed anyway. We received a warm welcome, found a table and went to the bar to order. We opted for Hobgoblin Gold - should have gone for the tastier Reverend James instead. Steak and ale pie came with chips and peas. It was hot and delicious. Surf and turf was rump steak and scampi with chips, peas and mushrooms. The steak was tough, but the scamp and chips were fine. No one came to check how the food was and the bar was busy so I didn't mention it. Will order something else on another visit.

Unusual meal - went for Hunters Chicken. Chicken was weird, not sure how it was cooked. No BBQ sauce or Cheese, maybe a new chef that's not familiar with recipe ?

Such a lovely tavern. So nice to hear lots of Welsh being spoken here. Food was so delicious, I had the nacho cheese sweetcorn burger. Prices were reasonable, my only gripe was not having a side garnish. My phone ran out of charge so I couldn't take pictures. The garden was enclosed with a gate which great for families, small park also. Lots of outside sitting.Vegetarian options: Lots of various meals available here, spoilt for choiceKid-friendliness: Park and gated garden area.
