Standard small village hotel, good staff but experience might be better in the summer.

Lovely pub and good food. The sunday roast was excellent. The bar room is fully wood paneled and has a old coach house vibe.Nearby activities: The pub isnt far from lake Vernwy.

Never stopped here but been inside a few times over the years, spanning 40 years. Different times but still a lovely place to stop and have a few beers etc.

We loved this lovely olde Hotel. A building with lots of wooden beams. Creaky staircases and floorboards...lots of character with two bars. Good food and good beer. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed big tv. Yep we really liked it. ?Rooms: Wooden beams with great character. Great shower very clean.

No hesitation in awarding five stars to this lovely hotel for the way they handled my son's recent 60th birthday party. Twelve of us sat down at a beautifully laid table in a quietly elegant dining room, and altough I don't as a rule care for pre-booking of food, I must hand it to the Cain Valley for making it work to a T, with twelve equally generous and perfectly cooked meals brought to us by waitresses who without being intrusive made sure that everyone was looked after. An added bonus for the Cain, of course, is the way the old building has been so tastefully preserved, and its location as a perfect base for exploring the lakes, rivers and mountains of North Wales. Thank you, Sean and Emma, and your staff of course, for making us so welcome, and giving us an evening to remember for all the right reasons.

Overall this is a lovely place but not for us I'm afraid, the staff are great, I would give most of them 5 stars but I don't think I will go back .Rooms: The room we had was good, but would recommend having something away from the front if you need sleep on a Friday nightFood & drinks: Food not to our taste but that is not to say it was well cooked and presented well.Noteworthy details: The staff are excellent, apart from one who is obviously new.

Almost 400 year old building, and although you can tell, I reckon there is another few hundred in it yet. They don't build them like that anymore.Beautiful country for walking.

Only had Sunday lunch which we enjoyed. However wouldn't say food is all homemade. The service however was poor. Sat waiting for the pudding menu for ages and went and ordered at the bar .Then waited ages for this to arrive! Obviously human error with preparation or serving or both .Shame as enjoyed the main .

Had a quick meal and a pint. Thank you for a nice rest between beauty spots.
