What a gem in the middle of nowhere. Secluded location but worth the travel from Abergavenny. Food was amazing. Vegan friendly and they also made sure the add-ons to the Sunday dinner were clearly vegan and ordinary. A great all rounder pub!

Fantastic country pub to break down at on a wet Saturday lunch time. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and we enjoyed a drink whilst awaiting rescue. Thanks again!

Really wonderful Inn and Pub located adjacent to an old cemetery. Lots of charm. Nice outdoor dining; steak and ale pie was some of the best we have ever tasted. Stayed here at end of day 2 walking Offa's Dyke Path. Highly recommended.

I am very fussy about my foodThis charming pub exceeds all expectationsI had a burger and chips as I only wanted a quick snack, thinking I'd leave most of the chips so as not to spoil my tea. I didn't expect the chips to be THAT good. Scoffed the lot.And the home made coleslaw is truly divineThey pour a good pint too

Such a lovely, charming pub. We visited whilst staying at Blaentrothy Farm & we’re so glad we did. The nachos are amazing, the burger & chili con carne delicious & the atmosphere & staff are fab. We are sad we were leaving Sunday morning, as the Sunday roast came highly recommended. Booking in advance is advised, it gets busy.

Lovely pub in a great location. Lovely Sunday lunch that came highly reccommended by friends.. but disappointed that our Beef and Pork were so thinly sliced. Looked almost like pre-sliced meat, so was disappointing especially seeing pics of meals with what I would describe as decent slices of meat. Came away wishing I had had the meatloaf. Vegetables great, but roast potatoes seemed deep fried. No stuffing with the Pork.
We visited the restaurant on the advice of some locals. We were not disappointed with the food or drink. The only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 was that the menu was quite limited.

Hidden gem. Unbelievable setting. Beautiful views. Great crowd. Good Guinness. Unfortunately no crisps that night. But 100% recommend.

Great pub. Came after Skirrid walk. Food was great and outdoor seating was very good - options under shelter or in the open. Dog friendly also

Steeped in history, this building was erected in the 13th century, as was of't the way in Britain, to house the masons and other craftsmen who were building the church next door. What is now the bar room was a cider mill in the 19th century, an indentation on the central beam showing where the vertical pivot of the mill was fixed. The inn being known as the Carpenter’s Arms at that time and briefly called 'As You Like It' in the 1900s before becoming the Hunter’s Moon, a traditional name for the first full moon after the Harvest Moon in autumn. The inn is now run as a pub and guesthouse by three generations of the Bateman family, which acquired it in 2013 to restore to its former glory.Well they have certainly done a grand job, keeping all the history including a keystone dated in 1217. The landlord and staff were very friendly and made us so welcome on a Tuesday afternoon. These days rural pubs in the area seldom seem open on Monday + Tuesday but this is open every day and all day! 3 real ales in superb condition and local cider. The menu is exceptional value, and the rear beer garden has a tranquil view across the churchyard. This is a pub not to be missed. Enjoy! And if you are staying, watch out for the friendly ghosts at the inn, including one of a lady who moves across the top of the stairs.

Stopped by for lunch at The Hunters Moon, super friendly landlord and great food. The setting is beautiful with views of Skirrid in the distance and the lovely church almost in the pub garden. We definitely recommend the Nachos!
