“We visited Frankie & Benny’s while a weather warning had been issued, although the weather itself was absolutely fine. The restaurant was almost empty. From the moment we sat down, the manager made it very clear she didn’t want us there. Her attitude was cold, abrupt, and unwelcoming from the outset. She told us everything would be “fast paced” as they might be closing, despite the restaurant still being open.
We were considerate, ate quickly, and the food itself was decent. However, the service was appalling. As soon as we finished our mains, she immediately pushed the bill on us instead of asking if we wanted dessert, which is basic hospitality. When I asked for dessert instead, she looked visibly irritated and became desperate to get the bill to the table, making us feel rushed and unwelcome the entire time.
While I understand staff may want to go home, that does not excuse treating paying customers like an inconvenience. There was no urgency to leave, no bad weather, and no justification for her behaviour. Her frustration was obvious in the way she acted, even if she couldn’t bring herself to say it outright.
The final straw came when the bill was paid. After my friend asked, “Ah, you didn’t split it, did you?”, the manager snapped back with “No, I’m not a mind reader.” This was rude, sarcastic, and completely unprofessional. It ruined the evening entirely.
The food was fine, but the manager’s attitude was hostile, dismissive, and unacceptable. If this is the standard of management at this branch, I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.”
