Had the Carvery today, really nice, the turkey was divine. Nice change from my usual Toby, really really glad I made the choice, I just turned up and was lucky to get a table for one, very impressed with the service, plenty of servers, no messing about, I now feel pleasantly stuffed, will definitely be going back next time I am back in Merthyr Tydfil

Great service today felt really welcome. Food was really good had the steak and Halloumi bagel and for desert the Twix rocky road with protein..would recommend this for every one to try?

Frankie & Benny's

We visited Frankie & Benny’s while a weather warning had been issued, although the weather itself was absolutely fine. The restaurant was almost empty. From the moment we sat down, the manager made it very clear she didn’t want us there. Her attitude was cold, abrupt, and unwelcoming from the outset. She told us everything would be “fast paced” as they might be closing, despite the restaurant still being open.
We were considerate, ate quickly, and the food itself was decent. However, the service was appalling. As soon as we finished our mains, she immediately pushed the bill on us instead of asking if we wanted dessert, which is basic hospitality. When I asked for dessert instead, she looked visibly irritated and became desperate to get the bill to the table, making us feel rushed and unwelcome the entire time.
While I understand staff may want to go home, that does not excuse treating paying customers like an inconvenience. There was no urgency to leave, no bad weather, and no justification for her behaviour. Her frustration was obvious in the way she acted, even if she couldn’t bring herself to say it outright.
The final straw came when the bill was paid. After my friend asked, “Ah, you didn’t split it, did you?”, the manager snapped back with “No, I’m not a mind reader.” This was rude, sarcastic, and completely unprofessional. It ruined the evening entirely.
The food was fine, but the manager’s attitude was hostile, dismissive, and unacceptable. If this is the standard of management at this branch, I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

My favorite place to go for food. Everything I've tried here over multiple occasions is delicious and the service is always speedy and polite staff. Highly recommend!!

Busy Bee Fish Bar & Cafe

We stopped in for a bite to eat with the family, and it was a hit. Delicious food, friendly service, large portions, and a reasonable price. The coleslaw is world-class, delicious. Very nice and pleasant, I recommend it 100%. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely stop by.

King Kebab

We ordered a big pizza today, with drinks and fries. O my God, delicious! Fries were crispy and there was no smell of old oil which means than they were fried in the fresh one. Nice and lovely fries. And the pizza.. Wow! The dough was melting in my mouth. Highly recommended. 10 out of 10.

The Tea Cosy

Ordered 5 takeaway Afternoon teas ...absolutely lovely...really good selection of fresh tasting sandwiches , a mixture of savouries,scones and sweet treats as well as being beautifully boxed with cutlery and napkin.A little sprig of rosemary on top of each box which we used as table decorations

Glebeland Fish Bar and Kebab

Really good chips and kebabs. Wonderful staff as well! You can order online or you can order on just eat. I have never had a bad meal here. Always early, whenever I have had food from here, it is always great.best chicken kebab I have had ever. Really love the food and really well priced. I love this little gem in Merthyr Tydfil.

Twyn Fish Bar

A broad statement here, but possibly the best chips in Merthyr.
Also, if you're gluten intolerant (celiac), then the chips are cooked in a separate fryer with an oil that is gluten free.

Tasty Pizza

Extremely polite staff when ordering and the most delicious food I’ve tasted and very cheap and very fast delivery to! Definitely be ordering again very soon! If I could give more stars then I would definitely worth more than 5 stars!

Pizza Hut Restaurants

Fantastic time at this hut. The staff were all super helpful and friendly, plus the manager was definitely leading his team. Great job keeping fresh food out and salad bar topped up. Definitely recommend.

Aberglais Inn

February 2026: I’ve eaten here on a number of occasions and the welcome is genuine and friendly. There is a wide range of beers on tap which is good to see. The food menu is broad also with a very well developed vegetarian and vegan options also. It is particularly thoughtful that the Head Chef has created a diverse menu.

It’s also a pleasant surprise that liquid refreshments are sensibly priced unlike so many other establishments.

The Butchers Arms Bunkhouse and Brewpub

First visit to the butchers Arms today but certainly won’t be the last. We received a lovely warm welcome and our two miniature dachshunds were made to feel at home with some special treats. The Sunday dinner we had was amazing and cooked to perfection. Already planning our next visit.

Flames Kebab House

Really good food. We own a pub so sometimes don’t have time to prepare our own food after closing. Flames always deliver in good time and the food has been faultless. Our go-to delivery after a long shift.

Delicious treats! Customer service is great. Car park is very small however you can park in other areas of the industrial estate. We have been here on two occasions and will continue to return!

Grawen Chinese Takeaway

Great Chinese takeaway open til late most nights. Extensive menu covering a number of South East Asian cuisines and Merthyrised versions of classics, so theres something on offer for nearly everyone at a one stop food outlet, including the most daddy and Ifont like spicy, dont like.. . .etc. Good value and freshly cooked and they deliver all over as well. Get in there!

Chickenland-Pizza & Kebab

Just had our first chicken land in a good while and it was genuinely the best fast food we've had in several years. All requests were done exactly as we asked, the chicken fillet burger was stunning and the chips... Literally the best chips we've EVER had delivered! Still steaming hot and crispy. Proper wow meal. So, so good ?

New Dolphin Fish Bar

Had a chip roll with curry sauce absolutely delicious! Highly recommended to visit a real traditional fish shop by British people for a chance. Even offered me a receipt extremely reasonable priced , if this fish shop can do it at these prices why aren’t others doing the same?

Llwyn Yr Eos Inn

A rustic, welcoming pub on the Taff trail. Has outside seating and free WiFi. Doesn't accept cards though, cash only, but the drinks are relatively cheap. Good views of surrounding fields and animals.

Rachels Cafe

Just went to this cafe. Holy s^%t. Set us up for a drive back to Scotland. Awesome. breakfast roll was literally a plate of food in a roll. Brilliant. Thank you Denise and Rachel.

The Hideout

We're a family from USA, we stopped here for lunch during a visit in Wales in 2023. This was a super neat & quaint cafe, made us feel at home. Good prices, too.
5 stars, would recommend.

Fortune House Chinese Takeaway

Second time order so thought I'd share experience.

Very friendly lady at the end of the phone when ordering, large selection and fairly priced menu.

Pre-ordered for delivery later, food came bang on time , hot , fresh, tasty and plentiful. Shall definitely be ordering again.

The Station Hotel Cefn

Such a great pub it's a shame not many customers the landlord very pleasant get down there and support them or else another pub will close when you visit this pub you can also view the viaduct

Woodland Cafe

Wasn't open when we visited but has a huge log burner . Menu looked varied and we went on special as I had read the coffee is highly recommended. We were disappointed it wasn't serving. Staff were cleaning and doing prep. We will go back when it's openParking: A bit hilly but then it iw up in the forestry and as such was uneven. Steps up to cafe . Plenty of parking available

The Brunswick Bar

If you've read my earlier reviews you'll have guessed i'm somewhat of a social butterfly. I like food, i like drink, i love the combination of the two together and that's what you get at this heavenly establishment. Now, an all you can eat Chinese buffet for prices around the stupid mark like £5 a head, this is an all you can eat oasis. As i've said prices are scandalously reasonable and food is nice and fresh and the choices are pretty good. A few not overly authentic but i suppose in this day and age you have to cater for everyone and at £5 a head, who really cares what your getting? A little out the way of Merthyr High Street the Brunswick is neatly tucked into aside street and if your not careful you will miss it. Although, i recommend you look out for their Ford Focus delivery car that has THE BRUNSWICK written appropriately up the side and follow it. Its always cruising about town! So all in all a nice place with nice food and nice prices. What are you waiting for?

Morlais Tavern

This is a nice pub with outdoor seating. They held a memorial for my uncle last Friday, and they did him proud. Thanks to all at the Morlais for this special day.

Greggs

Nice Greggs with small seating area. Very busy store though so expect longer waits than average for this store compared to other ones. Usually several staff on tills so quick as can be expected for footfall it gets.

I don't do Indian food normally but friends asked me to join them. I am so glad I did. The food was absolutely amazing and even though it was busy the food was quite quick being served. I'll give this 5 stars ?

The colslaw is very chunky now and mainly onion..little cabbage and no carrot at all..?
Had to cut some of the onions up as too strong to eat such a large chunk..miss the old colslaw..?

Martyrs Fish Bar - CF47 9JH

We hired the hall for our son's 18th birthday party. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we were allowed to decorate with our own wall banners and balloons. Awesome venue that I would highly recommend.

Very busy branch of Subways. Has a.very high turn around of staff. Do have trouble with teenage kids, but don't have security
