This is how a tea room should be. Apart from the friendly and efficient service the food was absolutely spot on. The quiche had the lightness of a soufflé. Good quality coffee that lacked the bitterness of cheap beans.

Called in for lunch, there was a nice fire! However the layout of the tables meant that when someone was sitting in front of the fire it totally blocks it from the other customers.Staff were friendly and it’s a busy little place on two floors, so staff are kept very busy up and down stairs. We had a ploughman’s & mezze which was ok but thankfully served with lovely fresh bread. No fault of the cafe but there was a female customer sat alone and constantly coughing and sneezing and blowing her nose! One gentleman asked if she was ok, as she was constantly coughing, to which she replied I have a cold nothing more! ( obviously willing to share it with others)As she was sat close to us for an hour or moreSadly now we have a cold too!On a positive the cafe has good menu nice bread & cakes and service is friendlyThe negative is the tables are to close together or some people even having to share a table sadly not big enough to accommodate many people safely and comfortably. There’s a little deli shop inside too with some nice little products to buy and they also do cakes to takeaway which were delicious.

Fabulous Scarecrow entry by Castle Kitchens in the Montgomery Scarecrow Trail. Great coffee and brownies.

Visiting the Welshpool area and not inspired by the food offerings. Came to Montgomery partly because of the reviews for this cafe and wanting tasty healthy food. Sooooo worth it. The only table available was on the path out front but was in the shade which suited me. The quiche and salad was excellent- thin crisp pastry, tasty light filling. Thanks to other reviewers for mentioning the carrot cake- I couldn’t see any but asked and it was hiding in the fridge. It is the best ever. The cafe/shop sell a recipe book- sadly the carrot cake recipe is not in it or I would have bought it for that alone.

Came across this little cafe by accident. We ate upstairs in very quirky room. Food was excellent and plentiful. We all had different things. Quiche very good and salads very colourful and had a lovely selection. The staff were friendly. Lovely selection of local produce. The welsh cider and the carrot cake were some of the best we have tasted. It gave us the fuel to tackle the big hill up to the castle.

Amazing little (well like a little tardis) cafe. We had two little dogs with us and sat in the very roomy and pleasant back garden. The coffee is great and the cheese and herb scones are the best scones we’ve ever had! Very friendly staff with smiley faces and a warm welcome. Pity we only found you on our last day of hols. We’ll be back. Stay happy xx

Delicious food (especially the cakes) and generous portions. Cute atmosphere and very friendly staff, but service was quite slow. Hot Spiced Apple drink was incredible. Some vegetarian options but not a ton. Very few vegan options as the vegetarian stuff was mostly cheese but they did have a vegan cake.Vegetarian options: Sandwiches or jacket potato with cheese

What an absolute gem. A beautiful cafe with a lovely garden at the back full of birds singing. A really lovely and varied menu and oh my - THE BEST SCONES I have ever had! Really friendly staff and everything is baked and prepared on site. Highly recommended and we would go back to Montgomery just for this cafe! Thank you so much.

Coffee and tea was okay, cake was dry and tasteless, but tasty flapjack. Odd table reservation system.
